I made a post about 10 days ago, maybe 2 weeks ago mentioning that I my husband was going to stop in Memphis and take me to Graceland on our way thru Tennessee if I wanted to, but I was freaked out by the bus ride and wasn't sure if I should go or not...
A few people said that I should do a mini TR if I went, so here it goes...
Well I did! The ride was literally right across the street. It couldn't have even taken 5 minutes. More like 3. If that.
It was an amazing experience. I can't believe that I have now walked the same hallways, been on Elvis's personal plane, and seen the innerworkings of his house. It's crazy to me that he had meals or entertained guests in those very same places.
We got the middle level ticket which showed several more exhibits including his cars, the planes and his military career. It was worth the $5 or $6 extra.
It was self guided, not too crowded but took araound 3 hours. We were taking our time but not going through every detail, I can see it taking longer if you really wanted to see every detail.
You can't take flash photography in there, but we have a nice camera so we still got a ton of good shots, and most of the displays are well lit. And since its self guided if you want to lag behind and try a shot over a few times, it doesn't really impact the rest of the group. If we couldn't get a good shot we'd just wait around and the crowd would thin and we could try a few times without being in anybody's way.
The rooms in the house are just as crazy as everyone says. They are really over the top!
If there is anyone debating going-I definitely say go! It was worht the $33 and the 3 hours.
