Hi. I tried to send you an email, but wasn't sure if you got it, so I hope you don't mind me posting this question here. You mentioned in a couple of posts that you were able to get a rate of $49 at the Hojo. Could you please elaborate on this. Is this the membership you get when you purchase the entertainment book, or is this a completely different membership? Thanks!

Please elaborate. That rate seems to good to be true. Please help. :Pinkbounc

you have to buy an entertainment book. you can get a book for any city, I got the Tulsa book. Inside the book is a card (looks like a credit card). This is the card that gets great discounts at hotels...everywhere! I had to call the HoJo Anaheim directly, and talk to the in-house reservations. I asked what the rate would be, when they told me, I then asked if the entertainment rate was available for my dates. She put me on hold for about 2 minutes while she checked, and came back to tell me that the Entertainment rate was $49.00/ nite for the dates that I needed. Now, a couple of days before this, I called the hotel directly and asked about rates, and they connected me to the central reservations for ALL of the Howard Johnsons....and they said no to the Entertainment rate. So be sure to ask for the in-house reservations. Also, you do not have to have the book/card in hand when making the reservation. I ordered my book online AFTER I had called HoJo! That way, if it is not available, you won't waste money on the book. Although we have used it in MANY cities, so it was never actually a waste! Good Luck! I have never been to the HoJo Anaheim, but have read so much good about it, I am excited! :cloud9:

Just wanted to add that you do not have to buy an Entertainment book, you can purchase an online membership at entertainment.com.

Also, I've gotten a $49 Entertainment rate at the Carousel Inn as well. So be sure to check all the hotels within the 1500-1600 block of Harbor Blvd if you don't get the rate you were looking for. And some hotels won't let you book the discounted rate more than 30 days from your trip since there is a rule that the rate is only available if the hotel is less than 80% full.

I actually did purchase the entertainment book and have the card. I get one every year for my city. The only reason why I asked was because I went to entertainment's website and checked rates for the HOJO and was quoated a rate of $99/night - so there really wasn't a discount (actually found it for a rate of $89 on a different website. I'm going the week of 3/28 so maybe the discount is not valid during that week. Maybe I'll call the hotel directly and see what they say. THanks again!

Definitely call the hotel directly. You can only get the 50% off rate by calling. The rooms you can book on the website are just a 'guaranteed best rate' which just means that you shouldn't be able to find a lower rate on any other website.
