For "Rope Droppers"....

As of right now, the BOG FP is a "secret", and if you are able to get one, it doesn't count against your 3. The advantage for us (we have one for 2/17!) is to not have to wait in the 30 or more minute line to get in. I wouldn't use one of my 3 for that if it counted, I agree - a waste.

Agree!!!!:thumbsup2

2 methods
1. FP+ for middle of the day to later in the day during peak crowds. Ride the headliners at rope drop and fill in less crowded rides as appropriate.
2. Rope drop at one park and get all the headliners in and leave mid-day and have FP+ for the park hopped to.

FP+ does change the model significantly and now that everybody will be pretty much on the same footing with FP- going away, should work even better. (No more people double dipping or just using FP- and getting a lot more than 3 FP+)

Method 3

3. Break up FP+ between late morning, afternoon, and early evening so you're not criss crossing all over the park.

For example, at RD you go to fantasy land and do PP, Pooh, Dumbo, LM, etc. Then you plan a late morning 10:30 -12:00 Enchanted Tales with Belle FP+. After lunch you go to Frontierland/Adventureland with a mid-afternoon FP+ for either SplM or BTMRR. Finaly, in the evening, book a FP+ for Space Mountain. and spend the evening in tomorrow land.

Well...not for NOW, but no telling when that will change. The access is through a back door that is provided by email invitation, except that they are not stopping folks from booking who never got the email, just got the link from here.

^This.^

Wishing, hoping, and praying that it doesn't change before summer when we go, but I don't like my odds. :(

I ended up changing my FP+ nearly every day I was there last week. I had originally booked many morning ones, since I knew which park I was going to be in that morning but I rarely knew where I would be in the afternoon until the day of. I like how I could change things around very easy, and being on my own most afternoons most time slots were still open for everything. I also had no idea what I would accomplish early in the trip, so I ended up trading out a lot of the character meeting FP+ I had later in the trip for more ride ones.

Going in January you definitely didn't need FP+ until the afternoon, and even then usually the only one you truly would need would be for the headliners and that's it, especially in Epcot. I could see where knocking out Future World in the morning with FP+ would be a good use of your experiences if you only had that one day in Epcot.

We would make our ADR's for dinner first, then plan our FP+ around that.

If we were going to Biergarten or Yachtsmans, we would make FP+ reservations for afternoon or evening at EP or HS.

If we were going to Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace, we would make FP+ reservations for afternoon or evening at MK

If we were going to Boma or Tusker House, then.....you got it, AK. In the case of AK, our FP's would normally be in the afternoon, followed by dinner, and then if we still felt like it go to MK or EP for fireworks and EMH. If you like packing as much as possible into a single day, I'd call this one the power plan.

The park with morning EMH would then be our first choice and if there weren't any morning EMH that day, we would choose a recommended park. If the recommended park was the same as our PM park, we'd pick the next recommended park.

Once at the park in the morning, it would depend on the park as to what our strategy would be at RD. With the tiers at HS and EP, getting to your favorite headliner first is obvious priority. If conditions are favorable, you might even get to enjoy it twice. If you're a glutton for one particular headliner, you might just camp out at that one until the SB line reaches 45 minutes or more.

On our most intense days and by following the above, we would be out of EP by 11:30 after TT, Soarin, and MS, grab lunch if we were hungry, hit a second park for our 3 FP's, go to dinner, and then hit EP or MK for Illuminations or Wishes and a parade and EMH.

Whoa, what the?

I haven't been on much lately (super busy) but this is a great post. Not that you don't have great posts-just kinda taken back at the "acceptance" (is it?) of the current situation.

Pretty sure you would turn back the clock-but I for one am impressed, for what's it's worth. Very helpful suggestions IMO.

Love the "camp out" if desired-I still think that will work well for those folks, at least off peak and RD.

Turn back the clock? To what? Paper FP's? I still don't like certain parts of FP+, I've never said I wanted the old FP system back, and I have my own opinions as to what effects it will have long term, but I guess you just proved why it isn't fair to characterize those with views similar to mine as "haters".

My suggestions above were based on actual experience. I've posted those same suggestions before, but people read what they want to read and I admit this is probably the first time I've pulled them all together and listed them in one post.

So thanks! I think? :rotfl2:

Your welcome, it is great info for the new system IMO, but likely all into one post. :)

We can get a lot done in the first hour of the park opening (especially if there are EMHs!) so we book FP+ for the afternoon or evening. :)

No kiddos, just 2 adults.

One of the things I really like about FP+ was the ability to change time and attractions while in the parks...and I ended up doing it everyday!!!! And multiple times a day to tweak our touring plans!

We are rope droppers and were there Christmas week and found we could walk onto rides for hours until the crowds came swelling in about 10:00. But we had already been in every park since 7:00 or 8:00 am due to early hours for the holidays. Even in non-holiday times, you can walk on rides for the first hour to hour and a half.

We rode all the headliners and pushed back all our FP+'s for later in the day OR if we were getting on everything stand-by quickly we moved our FP times to a DIFFERENT park for the evening. We did this especially at MK and moving to DHS or Epcot. We literally walked on everything in MK and did several several times and could tell we would finish up everything we wanted to do without needing FP's so we moved our choices and could still get TSM for DHS or Soarin or TT for Epcot. Since we were staying at BWV it was easy to walk back into these parks at night plus see their night entertainment.

If you are a rope dropper, I think the new system is actually very good since you will get lots of flexibility. :)

This is almost my touring plan exactly except we are going to Tomorrowland late morning/lunch and Frontierland/Adventureland end of the day. :thumbsup2
