Only 2 weeks left till we will be with the mouse. I've been reading all the posts on recent stays at the Poly about crowds and rude guests in concierge. :eek: We have stayed here in the past and thank goodness have never encountered this. Decided to try AKL this year and I'm wondering if any one who recently returned has run into any of the same situations?

There were never any crowds when we stayed at AKL concierge. In fact, it was fairly empty. We truly felt pampered and privileged. The staff was very attentive and the other guest were friendly, NOT rude at all. We had such a great time that we're staying there again over Thanksgiving.

Enjoy your trip!

Hi there ~ We were at AKL Concierge for 10 days ~ everything was excellent save these few things.

- one morning I saw parents and kids having breakfast in their jammies ~ just like it was their living room at home :confused:

- I saw a few people being turned away for not having shoes on ~ but this is a good thing! :)

- I heard a man yelling at a CM about not getting a PS for CRT for his large family (about 12 of them) he said that was the only reason he booked concierge and they "better" get it for him because he was spending a $%&#-load of money there :mad:

- The last couple of days was the labour day weekend and the lounge became extremely busy ~ but we would always find somewhere to sit and the food was still excellent & plentiful

- There was one unruly family with hellion twins ~ one twin threw a handfull of wooden stir sticks over the lounge railings into the lobby below, meanwhile, the other twin beat the TV with a plastic golf club because he did not like the movie :eek: thankfully they left after 2 days. (there was also an unfortunate incident with a lucky ducks game ;)

90% of the time ~ the guests, CM's, food and atmosphere were wonderful and the lounge was a excellent place to relax and enjoy.

Thanks for the replies. I'm happy to hear shoes are necessary. Hoping any jammy people decide to eat in their room!:)

We were there June 19 through 22. It was wonderful. We didn't see any barefeet or pajamas. Kids were fairly well monitored. Snacks were very good. I really liked the lemonade. The Durban chicken and beef on the stick were excellent. Did see a few larger families tend to monopolize the seating areas.

Our first AKL visit in December of 2001 we ran into a LOT of rude guests, many could have been the same people as described earlier in this thread. but the last visit in March of this year found us with many very pleasant guests. No food hogs, PJ people, bare feet, or out of control kids.

We were there in the middle of June and can't say enough wonderful things about the staff and lounge. Most of the guests were no problem--- the few exceptions were;
1 woman who came right from bed each morning to eat in the lounge-pajamas and hair unkempt, thong underwear visible--
the second was a large family who spread out over 3 tables, a couch , and numerous chairs, with kids lounging on floor-ate in lounge and then carted away as much food as they could carry, leaving the biggest mess I've ever seen in the lounge.
You always get at least 1, but that is everywhere you go anymore. You'll love AKL concierge. Don't let a few rude guests scare you away.

I have a suggestion. Next time you see someone in the PJ's whip out your camera and take a photo. Hopefully that will embarrass them into going back for clothes and if not you will have something to laugh at later.

Carol--Great idea! Tell them you're taking photo's for your web page, and give her the address so she can go look at herself. ;)

I love that idea-I'll have to remember that-that would work in a lot of situations.
