When staying in a vacation home and you drive to the parks what park is the fastest to get started in? We are staying in Indian Creek and I will be driving to one park in the morning and hopping around with the bus system. What park is the closest to Indian Creek? Is it better to drive are use bus system when changing parks?

The closest park is AK, but I would not leave my car there it closes the earliest. Once you are on the disney loop you can go anywhere else and leave your car there then travel as you like. Personally I would just use my car. I do not enjoy disney tranportation. Once you pay for parking you only have to pay once a day and you can come and go as needed. Just keep your ticket on the dash so you always have it for proof.

Hi, I am sure Martina is right that you can leave the car at DD and get around. My concern is that time on the vacation is so valuable that riding around and transfering Disney buses can take quite a long time. We just enjoy hopping the tram and finding the car and switching parks. The only real time saver is the monorail back and forth from MK to EPCOT. Now that is really slick.

You might try it one day and see how DD parking works but if you spend lots of time riding and switching buses, don't be afraid of driving to the parks. It is easy and one parking fee is good for the day...Good Luck...Ted

Thanks for the help. What is closer to Indain Creek, DD or Magic Kingdom?

The last I knew, DD did not have direct transportation to the parks because of the reason that was just suggested. They don't really want people parking there and then taking the busses to the parks. You would have to go to one of the resorts then transfer to a park bus. Much easier to just drive to the parks.

From Indian Creek, your quickest route into WDW is the Sherberth Road. Either turn right on the 192 and left at the next lights (onto Sherberth Road). This will take you directly to the bottom left hand corner of WDW property (between AK and AKL). Alternatively, take a right at the four ways stop sign (immediately outside the entrance to Indian Creek) onto the Funie Steed Road, left onto Entry Point Road and then straight across the lights on the 192 onto Sherberth Road.

I think the question about whether to drive or use WDW transport depends on which parks you're hopping between. Epcot and MK are easily accessible from one another using the monorail. You could take the friendship boats between Epcot and MGM, although they take a little while as they dock at the Yacht and Beach Club/BoardWalk/Swan & Dolphin along the way. The best bet is to walk the Epcot/Swan and Dolphin leg (or vice versa) and get the boat between MGM and the Swan and Dolphin. I think I would probably drive other combinations.

Thanks for the directions. How many miles and how long does this route take?

I have heard this as well.

It's really not a problem driving once you get used to it. Actually, moving your car later in the day sometimes works out well. We have often parked very close in at MGM in the evenings.

From Indian Creek via Sherberth is about 3 miles to get to Disney Entrance by the Animal Kingdom and then another mile or two in Disney to get to the lots. Remember Disney is 40 square MILES so there is lots and lots of ground to cover inside Disney.

Enjoy..Ted

I would stick with using your own car to get around between the parks. It is far quicker and easier than dealing with Disney transportation. We drive everywhere in our own vehicle even when we stay at a Disney hotel (except for the monorail).

Agreed. Unless you're the sort that thinks it's not a vacation unless someone else does the driving, go ahead and drive yourself. Not hard to navigate, and probably faster---even the MK/EP transfer, thanks to wait time at the TTC transfer point.
