My DD was plenty grossed out too.

DD's first comment was, "You'd never do that, would you, Mom?" My reply was, "Well, honey, you're not adopted so what do you think?" She told me ewwwww and I told her that it would sound better when she was older. :rotfl:

BTW, there is a great book by American Girl called "The Care and Feeding of Me" which DD loves. It talks about all sorts of things including sex, adolescent changes to your body and emotions, nutrition, etc. I highly recommend it.

This is a GREAT book! I have always been open about the the facts of life with my kids, but my DD is terribly embarrassed about it all. I found this book and she has just bout worn the printing off the pages :rotfl: Every now and then something will come up and she mentions "Oh, i read about that in my book."

Go for it, mom! Better she should hear it from you than from her peers, if she hasn't already. You'd be amazed at the misinformation that gets passed around.

You made me laugh and reminded me of my cousin who asked his mother if that was the ONLY way to make a baby. When my aunt replied yes, my cousin said, "You mean Uncle Tom HAD TO do that NINE TIMES!!"

Our whole family still laughs about that over 20 years later!!

Well... my DD is 14 and doesn't want to know about sex. I have tried many times and as a person who has a degree in Health Education, I have the least informed teenager in America. She hasn't asked any questions since she was 5 and I answered her ver matter of fact. I actually pinned her down the other night. I sat on her belly and pinned her hands down so she wouldn't cover her ears. Not sure what to do. She needs to know to protect herself, but I feel I can only do so much. We had the period/your body changing talk when she was 10 and that was not a problem. Hasn't even started her period. She isn't allowed to date so maybe she thinks she doesn't need to know these things. I have always been open and honest with her, but she just doesn't want to know.

Or rather, she already knows enough to be scared. I was just like your daughter. I was too embarrassed to even mention sex, so I looked at books instead. My mom was not very sensitive about the subject so she treated it like one big joke, with lots of threats interspersed. Thankfully, i was to afraid of getting pregnant to try sex until I got out of college :rotfl:

It wasn't until I was pregant with my youngest dd that she asked exactly how it would come out, and how it got there in the first place. She was seven then, and when I told her where the baby came out, she was horrified, and decided she'd just be an aunt, and let her brother's wife have the babies.

Had a similar reaction from DD at around 5. "Oh no, Mommy, that can't be right. It would hurt too much!"
