I do not plan on homeschooling but would like to know where I can find supplies so DD can get a jump on learning. Are there any websites that cover teaching preschool? I would like to start working on reading and math. Thanks for any help you can give!

You can google preschool and find several sites that would give you info and books you can order. Sams Club, Walmart, Target, etc., have lots of workbooks for all age levels.

We do homeschool. Our favorite learning to read book is "The ordinary parents guide to teaching reading." We have many friends who use the book, "Teach your child to read in 100 lessons." Both of these books can be ordered from any bookstore, over the net, or we have them in our library. You might want to check them out and see if you like them before you buy them.

Hope this helps!

I think you will find, though, that a lot of homeschoolers believe in NOT pushing a child to start anything too academic too early. They learn so much just from being with you everyday and being given the time to explore and play that they need. Any child who is read to a lot will grow up to love reading. You can incorporate math into making cookies together. Science is all around you, just take a walk in the park! Lots of folks feel that their child is smart enough to start reading early, but if mine didn't get it on their own I never tried to teach them to read before kindergarten. Turns out, my kids have now grown into young folks who LOVE to read!

You might try starfall.com for reading. Singapore Earlybird is a good intro to math. Google "Five in a Row". Many swear by it for early ages. We used a few workbooks by Rod & Staff that I really liked for my then 4 year old. You could also try rainbowresource.com. If it's not on their website, it very possibly doesn't exist! Good luck!

thank you for the websites. I am not looking to push her with learning just maybe some fun ways to get her started.
