I am making green bean casserole. That's it. I'll have eaten my "holiday" meal before going to work.

That's the best part of Thanksgiving Day for me, anyway... the green bean casserole. I don't like most standard Thanksgiving foods.

A man, a Kindle, and a green bean casserole all to himself - now that says "Thanksgiving" to me...:rotfl:

And football on Hi Def! :thumbsup2 with no kids or wife....I'm looking forward to it.

I hate green beans, I hate green bean casserole. I have to make it on Thanksgiving for my DH because he loves it. I gag when I smell the green beans, I'm even starting to gag now while I'm typing and thinking about them. It is the only day of the entire year when they are served in our house. When we went out to eat a few weeks ago, my steak came with the "vegetable of the day". I didn't ask the waitress what that was, then I saw other plates being delivered to tables and I saw the green beans! :scared: I had to have DH walk over to the kitchen entrance and request for them to be left off my plate! :faint:

I am sorry you have to have Thanksgiving alone.

Or maybe I should say congrats for getting to have Thanksgiving alone.

Either way I hope you enjoy your day. It is too bad you have to work.

papa deuce-if you are willing to walk on the wild side try adding a can of sliced water chestnuts to your recipie. does not change the taste one bit but adds a nice little crunch:thumbsup2

I'll add some.... worst that happens is that I pick them out! :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE green bean casserole.... wish I could have it at least once a month.

Usually on Thanksgiving I eat about 3 ounces of turkey, 2 of those big biscuits that come from cans, a bit of gravy.... and about 3 or 4 servings of the casserole. I don't eat the stuffing, the beets, the mashed potatoes, or the candied yams....

Thanks! I don't even mind going to work.... on holidays we get paid double time and half! :woohoo:

I must have missed it, but why are you having Thanksgiving by yourself?

Anyway, green bean casserole is a must have for me!

I detest 'green been casserole.' Fresh, al dente green beans tossed with a bit of butter, nutmeg and lemon juice-mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Also a hater of green bean casserole, sorry PD.;)

I am in charge of the green beans.
I make them fresh. Butter and tossed with some fresh garlic.

Turkey Day is my favorite Holiday. I always look forward to my alone time after all is done.

Hi Vegasnative,

I'll eat your green beans for you. Here's what my sister and I used to do: I'd eat her green beans and she'd eat my beets. First time DH saw this swap, he laughed so hard he had to leave the table to calm down! :lmao:

So, do you eat beets or asparagus? (Trying to learn to like asparagus, but it's taking a very loooooong time!)

Papa Deuce,

Mmmm ... green bean casserole. DH asked for that for Thanksgiving dinner. May have to make a triple batch and send you some.

Has anyone found a way to e-mail food yet?

My wife is taking the kids to Charlotte for the week. She had frequent flier miles and I think she said they were going to expire. Anyway, I do know that she only paid $120 for 3 RT tickets....

On another note, I now have off totally on Thanksgiving. My boss called and said he over scheduled that day and I can have off if I want it, so I am taking the day off.... That means I get to watch football - or whatever - all day in peace and quiet!
