For MK morning EMH, when and where is rope drop?

Last April when we visited, everyone waited outside the main gate for Mickey to arrive on the steam train and announce the opening. Pretty much right at 9:00 am, and not an EMH day.

When we went in December 2000, we were able to stroll down a quiet Main Street and walk under the castle for rope drop, with a short dash to be on the very first Dumbo ride.

Recently, for EMH, what time has rope drop been (8 am, earlier???) and where can you position yourself in or outside the park?

Also, what time does the monorail start running on a morning EMH day at MK?

Thanks.

I think the location of MK rope drop for day guests varies depending on crowding, it could occur at the north end of Main St. at the ice cream parlor, or it could occur at the turnstiles.

Rope drop occurs at official (published) opening time but could be plus or minus a minute or however long it takes to commence and play the greeting message "... walk slowly ..." message over the PA speakers, or however long it takes Mickey to arrive and do the aforementioned opening ceremony.

I have observed (not sure whether it was morning EMH) the first express monorail and first ferry arriving at MK as late as 15 minutes before official opening. The resort monorail starts much earlier but you may be asked to show ID in order to board.

If we think of the park as a stage and the operation of the park as a performance (hence the term Cast Member), it is entirely possible for the set to not be neat and pretty at the official opening time. Whether opening is delayed a few minutes I don't know.

During our 5 trips over the past year during both busy and not-so-busy times, guests have been admitted through the turnstiles about 5 minutes before opening. Then, we were held in front of the train station until actual opening time. This was the case for both EMH and regular openings. I really miss the rope drop down at the hub.

Thanks for the replies. I wonder why they don't do the "hub" rope drop anymore?

Just got back this week. Did EMH at MK on a Thursday. We caught our bus at 7:00 and were to the park by 7:20. the let us through the turnstiles at 7:40 and did the rope drop right by the train as soon as the "show" was over, right about at 8:00. I wish we could have gone closer to the castle but don't worry there is NO ONE in Fantasyland from 8:00-9:00! :thumbsup2 We walked on every ride we wanted by 8:40! (except Dumbo because it was not running at that time.) EMH at MK is AWESOME! :cool1: Have Fun!
