Episode 102
Monday, June 9th
With the first round of eliminations over, the ten remaining ladies became competitors instead of roomies. Jordan interrupted breakfast with the latest development. The good news: the dating starts! The bad news: only eight women would participate. Huh? As jaws were dropping onto fancy breakfast plates, Jordan explained. The ladies would vote on which two girls would sit home at the mansion building up anger and resentment while the other eight enjoyed fantasy dates with Rob. Wonder if Kelly was rethinking her snotty attitude at this point?
If that wasn't bad enough, Jordan made them REVEAL who they each voted for!! Talk about awkward. Everyone seemed to have lost their appetites as they revealed their votes. Stacey voted for Paige. Christina voted for Erin. Alima voted for Kelly. Melissa voted for Kelly. Laura voted for Paige. Erin and Kelly both picked Melissa. Melanie, Lauren and Paige chose Kelly. Some girls chose to explain their votes; others just silently revealed their choice. Kelly, ever the cocky (er, self-confident) one was non-plussed by her lack of popularity. Her thinking was that maybe the two girls eliminated from the group date would get one-on-one dates instead. Kelly's five votes made her a shoe-in to sit out; however, there was a tie between Paige and Melissa for the other spot. Under one of the breakfast plates was a red heart (note to producers: does everything have to be so complicated?). The person who had the red heart would decide who stayed home. As luck would have it, little Paige had the red heart. Not surprisingly, the girl who wears her heart on her sleeve opted for good karma over good strategy and sent Melissa on the date. Jordan explained that the "daters" would be broken into two groups of four, for two separate group dates with Rob.
The first date would include Lauren, Christina, Melanie and Laura. They must've been told to "dress down," because when date time rolled around none of them looked that spectacular. Comfortable shoes seemed to be a mandate for one thing. Once the date was revealed, a sailing expedition, it all made sense. They shipped out and Lauren soon snuggled up for alone time. Afterwards, Rob singled Laura out for some solitude, which led to a little kiss. The first kiss of the show! Let the smooching begin! Moments later, Rob was alone with Christina - but he quickly cast her aside for more "quality" time with Laura. The other girls weren't stupid
they knew some hanky panky was happening below deck. Rob was documenting the kissing with his handy camera, naturally oblivious to the dissatisfaction simmering on deck.
Later, back at the mansion
Christina vented her frustrations to Melanie. It was the same old reality tune: "I'm not used to a guy giving me attention, then also giving it to a bunch of other girls in front of me." Do these women not watch television? For those of you considering applying for next season, here's a fact: the bachelor will try for as much make-out time with as many girls as possible. That is the NUMBER ONE REASON the guy is on the show. Anyway, Laura overheard Christina's little tirade, which led to a confrontation. Which leads to our second fact: these girls are not and will not ever be your friend. Get over it. If you want a new best friend, get a hobby; don't go on a dating show. Women are programmed to be nice to each other, but when it comes to a hunky bachelor (oh, and one million dollars) you have to look out for yourself.
When it was time for the second group date, Alima, Stacey, Melissa and Erin gathered downstairs to put on their "costumes." (Again with the complications!) The girls complained as if they had to wear nightmare bridesmaid outfits. In reality, the '40s-style, white gowns weren't flattering or sexy, but they did, however, go with their stylish ride - a vintage comfortable. They rode to Huntington Gardens where Rob was waiting -- also in vintage threads (although he wore a dapper suit, as opposed to a doily dress). A beautiful lunch awaited the group under clear, sunny skies. Rob tried to impress the ladies by catching food in his mouth. Little did he know that he could've made armpit farts and it wouldn't have mattered since they girls had dollar signs dancing in their heads. Rob pulled Alima aside for a little one-on-one time. She claimed (to camera, not Rob) that she was there for Rob and not for the money. Next it was Melissa's turn. Melissa is a chatty gal - not sure if that's because of nerves or what. Then, Rob opted to ride back to the house with Stacey and Erin (the "supermodels" as Alima called them).
That night, the ten girls were called upon to make Rob dinner. Kelly took over the kitchen (what a shocker) and moments later Rob arrived. He zoomed in on Kelly and the pair disappeared - which rattled the remaining girls. Melanie encouraged Paige to go disrupt Kelly's face time and surprisingly Paige did. She asked Kelly to go back in the kitchen, saying that "the other girls" wanted her help. But as Rob and Paige got up to accompany her, Rob pulled Paige aside. Their little talk soon turned into a mighty big kiss! Take that, Miss Kelly! At dinner, Rob asked why the girls had voted for Kelly to sit out the dates. That was a little awkward to say the least. Then, it must've been the wine or something, but Rob was asking for help to take off his boots! Rob's macho request that Lauren turn her back to him and bend over to remove the boot (rather than it pull it towards her), seemed a bit degrading to the others. Perhaps they were just jealous that Rob checked out her butt. Next, Rob's pants were off revealing his swim trunks. Hot tub anyone?
Rob had to have been a little overwhelmed being in a hot tub with ten gorgeous women because he clearly wasn't thinking. He floated from girl to girl with equal affection not seeming to care that he was systematically pissing everyone off with his "Mac Daddy" routine. By the end of the night, everyone thought he was a big jerk
except of course, Kelly. She wound up smooching with him, just as Paige turned a corner! It was a total "Days of our Lives" moment! Paige quickly whispered to Rob that all the girls were annoyed with him and that he had some explaining to do. Of course, she said it in a nice, clueless way.
The next morning, Rob showed up with his tail between his legs. He gathered the girls and apologized for his behavior. He explained that he was a shy kid and that he's scared and then a bunch of other stuff that didn't make much sense. His heartfelt confession (especially when he started to CRY) led to instant forgiveness. Later that day, Jordan dropped a bombshell: 5 more women would be eliminated that night! Lauren and Erin were straightforward in admitting that at this point they were in it for the money and hoped to stay. That night the staircase framed the ten lovely ladies as Rob emerged to say his peace. After telling them that they were all classy ladies, Rob wound up eliminating (in this order): Alima, Melanie, Christina, Melissa and in a surprise move, Stacey.
