Just got back from doing the dreaded bi-weekly laundry and I realized I much I love this laundromat. It's super clean. It's next door to a convience store and a cafe. They provide plenty of magazines and newspaper and there's a television. The man who owns it is a very nice laundry man. And on top of it all, I think that the price of laundry is very reasonable. They charges $1.75/load for wash and 25 cents for 8 minutes/load to dry. And the washers and dryers work extremely well. This probably seems like an odd post and an odd question but how much does your laundromat charge to wash and dry? What do you think about the laundromat you use, in general?

you really need to get a washer and dryer, you wash your clothes in other peoples dirt :rotfl2:

I don't have a W/D in my apartment, but there is a community one right across the hall. 75 cents to wash and 75 cents to dry. Always need to do two dry cycles though.

Eek! Don't want to think about the dirt! I'm sure if I took a Lysol wipe through there, it would not come out clean...

I only go a few times a year to wash all the big blankets and stuff so I can use the huge triple loaders. The place is super clean that's why I go there and there is an attendant right there at all times. Can't remember the cost of the washers though.

I also went and did all my laundry there in October when we had no power for 8 days..but they did. Place was a mob scene..you had to wait for machines and dryers.

LOL...I can't stand the thought of going to a laundromat for that reason. Just the thought of what was on other people clothes in that washer before mine go in there freak me out. I do laundry on vacation out of necessity but I don't think I could stand doing it like that all the time-I have seen some of the people around here that use the laundromats-:scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

on vaction I just hope sexy peoples clothes where in it before mine

Not everyone has the option of owning washers and dryers - like apartment dwellers such as ourselves. Besides which, I watch as this man cleans after each and every person uses a washer.

I use my complexs washers and dryers sometimes it's a dollar to wash and a dollar to dry for 45 minutes. The dryers are super fast and hot though so my clothes are generally done drying in half an hour.

I love our laundromat!!

For a front loader in cold wash it's $1 and than a quarter for every 8 or 9 minutes(depending on the dryer). It goes up to $1.50 per washer for hot water....I use that for towels!!

I love it because I go in once a week and spend about $11 to do laundry for my clothes horse family and get it done in about 2 hours including folding!!

I go when the attendant is there...she's a wonderful lady. The only thing I do is make sure to wash out the soap dispensers because most of the Hispanic families that use the washers use some dry soap that just STICKS to the dispensers!!BLECH!!

I love going to the laundromat too as you can probably tell by my original post. I find that it's a relaxing couple of hours and it is pretty efficient. :laundy:

Why spend all day Saturday doing those same clothes in more loads (we have access to a washer/dryer) and not being able to leave home when you can do it in that 2 hours and be done?? :laundy: Plus it's the only time all week where I am truly by myself...now if I could only figure out the best shoes to wear because all that standing makes my feet and legs hurt!!

Boy howdy....two nights in a row I've ended up talking laundry...what an interesting life I lead. :rotfl2:

I have had my own w/d for a long time but I used to enjoy my evenings at the laundromat. I also had a nice place to go and had friendships with the employees. It was almost something to look forward to.

I agree, now it takes me many hours to wash and dry one load at a time. I usually do the wash after everyone has gone to bed. I am usually up DISing anyway. :confused3 :lmao:

Doesn't take me long or tie me up in the house, I toss a load in the washer when I leave for work, come home and dry them while I am cooking dinner....

When DH and I rented a the bottom floor of a house, we had no washer/dryer either before we got them. I would go up to the laundromat evey week to do our wash and would spend about $13 and change per week. There were more disadvantages than advantages.

Disadvantages: Spending money every week in quarters, not being able to get other things done at the house that I needed to do, boring few hours even with a book. Carting all the laundry back and forth.

Advantage: Being able to use more than one machine at the same time. That helped us get our loads done quicker.

Now that we live with my FIL, we have the use of a washer/dryer and now it only costs me $16 and change for detergent a month (I get the big bottle of liquid detergent) rather than $52 or so a month.

The last apartment I lived in with community W/D was in 2001, so I do not know if the prices have changed, but it was $1 to wash and $1.25 to dry. I was lucky b/c we were on the ground floor and the laundry room was just down the hall, so I didn't have to lug stuff up and down stairs. And, popping in to see if the machines were free was convenient.

My DH had a friend who did laundry twice per year.

He wore khaki pants, white oxford shirts, black socks, all white underwear...every day.

He had enough of each of those articles of clohing to last 6 months.

He would pay my DH to help him go to the laundromat really early in the AM, they would fill every washer ansubsequently every dryer with his clothes and his laundry would be done for 6 nmonths in like 3 hours.

We spend no where near $52 a month and we use the laundromat. While it would be convienent to have a w/d and I'm looking forward to it, I really do not mind the laundromat in the least. I go twice a month and I spend $10 each time for four loads. So I guess I spend $20 a month plus enough detergent for 8 loads.

Another reason I like it so much is that I get to meet the people in my neighbourhood which is sometimes hard to do in a city.

I like this plan. If only I could afford that many clothes. I have exactly enough underwear to get me from laundry day to laundry day.

I had more than 4 loads to do each time. White wash would be about 2 loads as well as the dark clothes, etc. And the dryers would only get me about 15 minutes or so at a time (I don't remember if it was 25 cents or 50 cents, it's been awhile). It was $13 each week for our laundry. We would not have clothes for work if I didn't do our laundry each week, LOL.
