Just got this from a friend. Frank, you know I wasn't there!

FYI: This sturgeon is still alive, just worn out from the fight.
As the sports fishermen we are, we turned him loose after the photo.

This Sturgeon was caught in the Missouri River, North of Bismarck , North Dakota two weeks ago.
It weighed out at over 1,000 lbs and measured out at 11'1".

My ! Isn't that just a beautiful fish !
I wonder, how many of those men the Sturgeon wore out before they landed that beauty ? Bet it took them a while to get her landed.
Glad they were able to return her.:thumbsup2

Did you know that Sturgeons can out live most humans! They can live over 100 years !

I think sturgeons are beautiful...you cant see it very well in this photo...but they have retained that prehistoric external spine.....I once bought a shovelnose sturgeon from, of all places, the pet department at walmart many years ago...I had never seen one in real life before, and it was relatively cheap, so I brought it home. I searched and searched for proper aquarium conditions for it in my large collection of aquarium magazines and in everything I could find at the libraryand found absolutely nothing(there was no internet back then). Unfortunately, it died after about a week because I didnt know the proper ph balance or required temperature for it. To this day...Ive never seen one for sale again, which is unfortunate, because now I could get the info to keep it alive and afford the equipment required. Wow....did I just completely stray off track with that long pointless story!!! Sorry....beautiful fish...and kudos to those who caught it for releasing it!!!

:goodvibes

An associate, who works for the PA Fish Commission, told me they (Pacific stocked stureon ????) are coming back in the Delaware River between NJ & PA. Their location is secretive. I believe they may be tracking them electronically.

The Delaware was a great fishery untill you could walk from the PA bank to the NJ bank, on top of the water. No, you did not need a Divine connection. The water was just that polluted.

Herring, shad, striped bass, smallmouths, largemouths and trout (way up in NE PA) have given me a tussle in the Delaware River, before leaving for the S Central PA cornfields. I will get back to the upper Delaware to see, if I can outwit a Rainbow or Brownie with a well presented dry fly.

Wow ! ! ! Just think of hooking the big guy above out of a kayak.
