It's the new TSA campaign for taking liquids through security. It's a simple formula:

3 oz bottles in a
1 quart ZIP lock baggie and only
1 per passenger

Go to the TSA website www.tsa.gov . They finally have a campaign together to do this. About time.
(ok - semi rant coming)
I don't know who I was more annoyed at - the TSA for not promoting the new rules, or passengers who do not have a clue. I am a frequent business traveller and last week going through security in Omaha my baggie was used as an example for everyone else in line. By the TSA person's tone, they are seeing lots of non-compliant people coming through. The way I see it, if you are going to fly in this day and age - it is YOUR responsibility to know what the rules are. You cannot be that dumb, and pleading stupidity ('I thought the rules changed'; 'I didn;t know') doesn't fly with me (no pun intended). I applaud the many people on here who ask what is and what isn't and applaud those who try to help (although if you don't know, please don't offer 'I think', that's how confusion will reign).

But before you think I am pro-TSA, I think that they have done a poor job informing the public. I won't know until Nov 27 (next time I fly), but I am hoping the new campaign will include copious signage at the airports. Currently at Logan airport in Boston, terminal A (Delta) there is nothing except taped down printouts at the ticket counters. The new campaign at the website is a start and as I said, hopefully will be seen at the airports during the upcoming busy holiday season. I am sure local news stations will do their stories, but to get more people, what's wrong with the networks filming some PSA's with some celebrities?? NBC showed a PSA for nternet safety using Dale Earnhardt Jr. Why not have something like that for 3-1-1 and show it during the shows that get seen (Bachelor, NASCAR, NFL, Lost - hey that would be funny considering how they got on the island - maybe not - you get the idea). It ain't that difficult and if the TSA does its job, hopefully we won't have too many clueless people at the security lines and we will all be happier travellers.

(OK - rant over - sorry about that)

Happy Holidays and safe travels everyone!!!!!

Thanks for your posting and I'm with you on the *rant*! I also think the airlines could do more to inform passengers -- golly gee whiz, you've got my email address, I bought my tickets online, you know I've bought a ticket for a *child* -- why not go nutty and email me the guidelines? Ah, but customer service does seem to be a lost art these days....

I think the most difficult part is the quart size. How does "1" make you think of that?

Hi

Yesterday, in MIA airport the TSA made an annoucement, that shampoo's can be 3.4 FL oz. We asked why, & they said, that Europeans, don't make 3 fl oz only 3.4 fl oz. So, she was yelling 3.4 fl. oz are now allowed.

I filled my quart size pretty much to the rim. Nobody said anything about it being overfilled. I did mention, to all of the TSA agents, that all the contents were 3 oz & under.

Hope this helps

Patricia

So I assume that I can take juice boxes for the kids with me?
Any info. would be appreciated.
Thank you

FLL has the signs posted and MCO has a Table set up with a Garbage can next to it, for those who don't get it! :confused3 I GET it, and now check my baggage with the Airline, and it arrives there everytime, so I can have ALL the ziploc bags I want!

LOL - yeah. Especially given how widely broadcast the rules have been - television, newspapers, online, word of mouth...

If they're three ounces (as labeled) or less; or 3.4 ounces if you're bringing them onboard at Miami International...

Only if they are 3 oz or less AND they are in the quart bag. You get one quart bag for each passenger.

Now if you buy the juice boxes after security you can carry them on the plane.
