???For Dznypal about redeeming Webcertificate

Hi again Dznypal!

Is there any special way you explained to the cm at the DS about not having the card for the webcert??

The reason I ask is that I just called the DS I'm going to tomorrow and the cm I talked to totally did'nt know what I was talking about. I tried to explain it to her the best I could but she just was'nt getting it. She said they really almost have to have the card with the embossing on it and not just the number but she did say that they might be able to try it whatever that means. I really really want to be able to walk out of the store I'm at tomorrow with my $25 DD because I won't be near another store before our trip. Did you just have the number and exp written on a piece of paper? I'm wondering if it would help to print out the information directly from the webcertificate site that gives all the information on what's in your account, card #, exp date, etc. or if this would defeat my purpose??

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks again for replying earlier! You've helped me alot!!

I'd print out the info....cut and paste everything to a Word document and also add on the part where they tell you how much they charge for the plastic card. This way they might better understand the reason you dont have the plastic card.

That is a great idea to print out from webcertificates that way everything is on paper!!!
When i went I told the CM right out I wasn't sure if this was going to work but I didn't have my
card and if she could put the number in by hand. I tried to explaine about the rewards programs on the disney boards but I think thats where iI was starating to lose her At any rate she put the number in by hand and it went right through with no problems or qusetions I just had to sign a charge slip like when you slide a card through.

I really do appreciate your help in my plight!! These boards and the people on them are great!! Not sure if you're asking about the Disney or Chicago trip? We only live a few hours from Chicago so we are taking a charter bus to the city in the morning right to Michigan Ave. and will come home that same day. If you were asking about the Disney trip we are doing a 7 day land/sea package with 3 days at the Contemp and 4 days on the Disney Wonder!! I can hardly wait just a few short weeks!! Anyway I will for sure post when we get home maybe tomorrow night or Sunday about my success! A little positive thinking there! And I will most definitely post when we return from our trip to the World!! Thanks again sooo much!!!!

Well, sorry it took so long for me to reply but yesterday was a crazy day!!

Just to let you know I was successful!!! You would'nt believe how excited I was after I got out of the store!!!

It was'nt easy but I was persistent and in the end victorious!!

I was purchasing some other things so I did that first and got one of the free snowglobes by the way!! Well after that transaction I began my explanation of what I was trying to accomplish while handing the cm the paper I had printed out from the website that I copied and pasted from Microsoft word. I knew immediately she was going to say no because she was looking at me like I was crazy to try and purchase something without a credit card to give her. She said I've never even heard of or seen anything like that we can't do that. Soooo, I began my explaining of how I just did'nt have the actual card yet but that all the information she needed was right on the paper and she could probably just enter it manually and if it did'nt go through I would understand.

Well, she walked away from me and went to help another cm with a transaction and I think that she was hoping I would go away but no not me . I though I'm just going to stand here like I'm waiting for her to do it. She finally came back and she called another cm over I think a manager and said have you ever done this before?? I explained it all over again and said I can show you my Id to prove that I am the person listed on the paper and I think that was what worked!!

She typed everything into the register and it went right through!! The manager stood there the whole time and when it went through she was looking at me and the paper and I said what she was thinking -- Would you like to keep this paper and she said yes we will need that. I don't think they really did but I think since they had never done this before if anything went wrong she probably thought then they would have all the information on me. They were really busy at the store I probably had to wait in a line of about 20 people to check out but the real key I think was that I was persistent and just stood there and did'nt leave. I did also tell them that I had had a few friends who had done this before . You're all my friends here right??

Well, needless to say I almost did'nt make it out the door before I could keep myself from jumping up and down!! It was our first stop of the day and It made for a great day!! I WALKED OUT OF THE DS WITH $25 BUEATIFUL DISNEY DOLLARS IN MY HANDS!!

The whole reason we went to Chicago is that my 4 yr old DD is going to be in my nephews wedding in April and is going to be a flower girl. So after lunch we hit the Jessica McClintock store and ordered the most bueatiful peri blue embroidered organza and satin flower girl dresses. That was fun! My nephew gave each of the girls a $25 gift certificate to the AMerican Girl Doll Store!! We had to actually wait in a roped line outside of the store on the sidewalk just to get in it was so crowded!! It was so much fun though and my DD got the little Angelina Ballerina mouse doll that you can dress with a book. What a fun day if only we could have stayed for the Mickey's 100 year celebration light parade they were having in downtown Chicago. You should have seen the people it was crazy!!

Well we're home now and I am so excited I did'nt have to pay $6.95 for the card!! Just another testimony to how helpful these boards and all the wonderful people on them are! I wish I could give you a big hug Diznypal!!

I guess my suggestions for anyone trying to do this in the future is just be persistent -- don't leave and print everything out on paper!!

I'm sooooo glad it worked for you LIke I said this was the first time I could help someone. I really would have felt bad if after telling you my success and then it doesn't work for you. Persistence does pay off! You'll really enjoy spending those DD after what you had to go throught to get them!!
