For DLR Insiders...actual construction date

Aloha,

For the DLR Insiders...what is the actual start date of the construction of the new DLR hotel to be located between Adventure Tower and DTD?

I ask because I am trying to plan a 2018 family vacation. According to a RFC employee, the construction has been delayed past July, 2018. According to a DLR Hotel Reservationist, the demolition work starts in January, 2018.

My surfing attempts for any creditable info have come up empty.

Great question. If there's going to be construction this summer, that will make not staying at DLH a much easier decision.

Hotel construction is to begin summer 2018. The parking structure expansion will begin by February 2018.

The construction schedule has already been pushed back some since I got a look at the proposed schedule (Parking garage was scheduled to begin construction this year).

This was the previous schedule; I can only assume parking garage is pushed back by one quarter, don't know yet about if Hotel demo/construction has been pushed back:

Parking garage construction - End 2017 to end 2018 (about 1 yr)
Parking garage open - First quarter 2019

Demolition and advanced works: Summer 2018
Hotel construction - Third quarter 2018 - end 2020
Hotel open - First quarter 2021

There will be a DVC tower (not formally announced yet) but that will be on the far edge of the site, so it is likely that will continue to be under construction even after the rest of the hotel is open.

I guess that explains why they have bumped up the DVC pricing for VGC, so it can be inline with any new properties in CA.

Disney room specials for Aug/Sept 2017 went until the end of September. Not sure when they were announced.
For end of September room specials, if Disney has one in 2018, I'd expect them to come out in June or July.

On Sept 6th, Disney came out with a room promotion for Oct 22nd thru Dec 21st.

-No. Welcome to DLR.
-Who knows? Again, welcome to DLR. Long closures can come with little notice, consistently high prices & yet we keep coming back for more.

Less Debbie Downer: keep an eye on rumors for the monorail closure, might at least give us an idea of when in the project the monorail will go down. I'm sure they'll run it as long as they can but they are re-building the DtD station so it will have to go down for awhile. At the beg, middle or end of hotel construction idk. If it's the beginning during demolition you could be out of luck.

Where did u get info from. Our guide said it's like a city ordinance that's blocking new time shares. I told her I want to buy there but she didn't think it will happen. She said she has client on planning board that will let her know if it seems like it could happen.
