I have to admit, I find this fascinating! We've had passes for about ten years now and have never gone anywhere other than Tomorrowland or Fantasy Land first. May have to switch it up!
Our tradition is to ride Pirates first at DLR! (Actually we always go to DCA the day we arrive as it is a travel day/partial day in the parks. We save DLR for our first full day)
We fly in at 9:15 am... I would prefer for us to hit DCA first because we won't get there for rope drop but does that diminish the "magic" a little if our first day is in DCA instead of DLR??? Opinions welcome!

It won't diminish the magic at all! My husband and I adore DCA and so do our kids. I hadn't been there since the major overhaul of the park and wasn't really interested in going when we went in September, but the instant we walked through the gates, I fell in love. It's full of magic, especially the Animation Building, do not skip it!

Good to hear! The only time we have been there was in 2011 when they had all of Buena Vista under construction (and other areas as well). For that reason they also were not doing the parades either. That must be why we were missing the "WOW" factor. Maybe we will do DCA our first day. Thanks!
I normally go to Adventureland to get a FP for Indy, well for me, for Indy. LOL then I head on over to the pirates for daring and dashing sea adventures that are worthy of a whale of a tale. Then after I had survived another spin around the seven seas with the most raucous, bad boy pirates ever seen, heard or good god, smelled after getting my landlubber legs back, I head on over to a mansion that is always reportedly haunted. I love it. Although to be honest, the most scary, horrifying thing about that place is never really knowing when very tiny people will be there that will start screaming, crying, and or carrying on otherwise. Then there are their parents.
Our first park day, we usually arrive around noon. Big Thunder is first. There is no question. Last year, when it was down, we were thrown for a loop! We did Pirates first instead!
