For Cricut owners

I've been playing around with mine for a while and have noticed a disturbing problem.

Almost all my pieces will have a small area not cut all the way through. It'll be hanging by a very tiny section.

Is this normal and why they sell the tool kit? Or is there something wrong with what I am doing?

Did you try to troubleshoot with playing with the blade hight? Or the pressure dial? Would it happen if the blade was at 6 and the pressure is at max? Does it happen at the same place on every cut you make? Like the right side of letters and of shapes too?

If changing the blade hight and pressure doesn't help, I'd call customer service. Some people have just had bad blades, and CS sends new ones and they are fine. From the yahoo groups I have seen that they are really helpful with troubleshooting. I know when my bug died, they were great!

In my experience, if it wasn't cutting all the way, it was a pressure thing, and I slowed down too. Sometimes making the curves it didn't go all the way through.

I am going to try making it happen, than changing the blade and seeing if it still happens.

It ran the programs, but the pressure just wasn't there. It was only etching the top of the paper at the highest settings.

Customer service sent me a new one, and I shipped them my dead one. She said it isn't common, but not unheard of.

the pressure setting depends on the paper your using. If your using cardstock, expecally Bazzill you'll need to leave it on max. the blade cutting on the mat doesn't destroy it quicker then all the pealing and unpealing of the paper removes the stikyness.
If it's anything cardstock weight I leave it at max(6) and slow(1-2)
If it's patterned paper(thin) I use high(5) and med(3-4).
depending on what your cutting out, if it's a basic shape you can run it faster, but for grass or anything that has a lot of cutting it needs to be slower.

I was definitely trying to use the lowest setting possible. I will keep it higher pressure and slower speed.

ZooBalloons has the grass, vines & branches. My Adventureland Topper & Tags looks pretty darn good, just to toot my own horn.

I learned a great way to help get more life out of your mats, clean them with baby wipes (cannot contain aloe), it really does work. Who knows - this may be old news but I just recently heard about it and thought it might help someone out!

How does the lint off the baby wipes not stick to the mat?

Another way to extend the life, wrong or not I'm not sure (Mine hasn't made it out of the box yet).....my freind bought some 3M Repositional Spray.

I've read where people will use the Wacky Tacky repositional liquid also.
I haven't seen that particular item yet. Mostly because I haven't looked.

Baby wipes seem much easier to me.

I've read about the wacky stuff too, but I used the spray on. I also use one of those sticky lint rollers. That really helps get the paper bits off.
