I am normally a "go to the store girl at 4:00 am" shopper on Black Friday--- However due to child care this year I may have to stay and home and shop!

My question is:

WHat time can I start shopping? Is it midnight or do I have to guess and check all morning until the prices become available?

TIA for all your help-- have a great day.

I had to do that one year because I had just had a baby. It has been a few years, but at that time, you had to wait until the whenever the stores began their sale, usually 5 or 6 A.M. Things might have changed though. Maybe another poster will have more current information. It would be nice if they did sell online a few hours earlier. Might alleviate some of the crowds and they would still be selling things.

Last year, I bought some BF deals online on Thursday during the day. Circuit City had a deal on Xbox, so we bought it and then picked it up the next day at the store's customer service desk.

I would start checking for deals around midnight (12:01 am on Black Friday). I purchased a camcorder from Best Buy's web site (same price as advertised for instore).

I would start checking after midnight on Thursday. The past couple of years I've found some sites start earlier. All you can do is go online and check. I think Sears starts when their store opens. You can watch the boards as some folks will post. Make a list, keep your shopping time short as things will disappear before you checkout. Pretty much go to the site and log in to save time, find your item and get out as soon as possible. I learned the hard way once while putting movies in my cart. Once I got done and tried to check out most of them disappeared as they were sold out. You should be making list right now and writing down the item number so that you can do a search on the item number. I've done pretty good over the past couple of years online. I am a retired black friday shopper and often have finished my shopping before I've even put the Turkey in the oven. Good luck!

Thank you! That's great advice. I'll be doing a lot of shopping at home this year too. For some reason I love getting out at 4 am and getting everything done, however, I need to ship everything north this year and figured it's just easier to let the stores ship for me! :thanks: Good luck to everyone this year.

Look on sites like slickdeals and gottadeal, they have lots of bf info on both sites. That's how I found out last year.

Last year I got BF pricing on a bunch of DVDs on amazon.com on Thursday morning - same prices as Target's doorbusters, which saved me from chasing those down on Friday, plus no sales tax!

I agree. I keep an eye on gottadeal's website. They are going to open their BF online forum sometime this weekend where they will post what times each store will start their BF prices online, exclusive online deals, any coupon codes, etc. I highly recommend registering and browsing their forums.

Also someone suggested to register your info with the online merchant before the sales actually start. That way, you are not wasting time during the checkout process which could ead to your items being out of stock by others who were quicker!

And don't forget that the Monday after Thanksgiving is now referred to as "Cyber Monday" when many stores run online-only sales. You can get some pretty great deals in the comfort of your own home...

Love Cyber Monday, the deals are usually better than BF

Me too ... hoping for a repeat! Gotta love free shipping and no sales tax!

I was so excited to find out that my sister was finally willing to go out on BF with me this year:cool1:. In the past, I've always gone it alone which is no fun. She's willing to get up and get to the mall by 4am:woohoo:.

Except....I forgot that DH has to work that day:mad:. Since he leaves for work at 5am, I don't know what I am going to do. It looks like I may have to forego the madness this year. I have no intention of bringing DD4 and DD6 with me so I am a little stuck. I am going to see if Mom and Dad will let them spend the night on Thanksgiving but it is doubtful. Maybe I can talk mom into coming with us.

Otherwise, I will have to use the good ol' internet:surfweb:. I guess that wouldn't be so bad. I like to watch my Sunshine Rewards, MyPoints and BigCrumbs accounts grow:love: since all that money goes with us to WDW in April!
