Do the new versions of AOL (7.0, 8.0, 9.0) run better than the older ones? Is it worth upgrading from the older kind (5.0, 6.0)?

If there's a better chance of getting more access numbers, getting on at a decent speed and STAYING connected, and not getting knocked off as much if I use one of the newer versions, I'll upgrade. AOL is disconnecting me WAAAY too much lately!

Any feedback is appreciated! thanks!

I'm on 9.0. I think it's always best to have a later version. I rarely get kicked off, etc. I have cable modem, so not sure if that helps.

I have 8.0 with dailup. I haven't been kicked off in months. :)

I also have Version 8.0 and we get "kicked off" numerous times a day! It's exasperating! We're thinking of getting cable modem to see if it helps. Anything is better than what we're experiencing now!

I upgraded to the 9.0 I have dial up, only because I'm cheap and not paying 50.00 a month for internet. I have no problems with my service. I mean its dial up so it is slowwwwww.

I really like 9.0, but I mostly used my verizon DSL

I have had AOL for years. I originally had it as dial-up and then when Road Runner finally became available in our area (must be about 3 years ago now) we got that but kept AOL. I definitely suggest upgrading. There are so many new feature in newer versions of AOL, plus many online sites require newer versions of programs such as AOL, Netscape, or IE for their sites to run properly. I do however hold off on upgrading to the "newest" available version for a few months after it comes out so it has a chance to work out a few of the bugs that are normal with new versions. For example, I am still using 8.0 even though 9.0 has been available for a little while. I will probably be up-grading to the 9.0 version shortly.

Sometimes when I travel I am forced to use an AOL dial-up access number to connect to the Internet. I have found that it has more to do with the area you are in, the number of people using that number to connect, than it does with your AOL version as far as getting kicked off.

Yeah, living in Philly its congested and there's not nearly enough access numbers!

I'd love a cable modem, but its just too much money!

GG, my friend says that as long as she leaves her IM window open she doesn't get kicked off. She upgraded to 9.0 and is very happy with her smilies.:D
