I have my first Disney trip planned for April 2021 and I got upgraded to Poly Villas bc main Wilderness Lodge is closed. Just found out that the main Poly resort will be closed thru summer 2021! How does this impact me? Should I look into changing my resort or can I make this work? I have no experience with Poly or staying onsite at all. Would appreciate any advice or viewpoints! Thanks!

Didn’t you just post about this a little further in this thread??

I was looking to keep it more concentrated on people’s advice regarding staying at Poly Villas if the main resort is closed. Should I not have done that? I wanted the feedback from people that know Poly well.

Probably should have just posted in either the Poly thread here, or the Poly thread in the DVC resorts board. No need for another thread here.

You can do it if you want to but people will be replying on your other thread too, so you will have to check both places. On the DVC board you can ask on the dedicated Poly thread.

IMO you got some good advice and a variety of viewpoints in the other thread.

Deciding to stay at a resort with unknown 'possible' construction interference is a difficult and highly personal decision. I stayed at Poly several times during the 2014-2015 construction (which was rather significant - pools closed, three longhouses being renovated, bungalows being added, new paths and detours all over, etc), and I had great stays during that time period (Poly is great with less guests around). Not sure if I would have wanted to stay there if my only trip though.

In my opinion April is an eternity away and Disney didn't announce enough construction/renovation closure details to make an informed decision. I'd monitor the main Poly thread for updates as we get into October/November/December and whatever work they are planning to do starts to ramp up and/or Disney comes out with more info.

If you don't feel like worrying or dealing with uncertainty, pull the plug now and move somewhere else. But if it were me, I'd be waiting, reading up on Poly, and monitoring.

Having stayed in many Disney resorts while construction is going on, IMO they do a great job at maintaining a quality guest experience and I have zero qualms about staying at Poly from October - Summer 2021. But everyone's tolerances on that scale are going to be different - some will not be satisfied at the mere presence of a construction wall or sound of a distant hammer - so it's hard to give advice.

Thanks so much! Sorry about posting more than once! I havnt looked into the specific Poly threads, Ill have to go find them.

It depends on your tolerance level and how much time you're planning to be at the resort. GF is my favorite, but if I were brave enough to go to Orlando right now, I would probably stay at Poly knowing that the resort crowd would be reduced to at least half. I'm also a park-oriented person and just need a place to sleep, so in-resort construction and restaurant closure had never bothered me in the past.
