Does anyone do 3 day actions instead of 5 or 7? If so, how successful are they compared to 5 or 7 day actions? When I browse on ebay I always go to the ending today or going, gone sort first. How about you? I usually list stuff for 5 days but with my WDW trip fast aproaching I'm thinking of 3 day actions. Any thoughts?

I have never done a 3 day auction. I think I read on another board once (devoted to auction sites), that it was best to start a 3 day auction on a Friday. Because most bidding goes on during the weekends.

I always do 3 day auctions because most people wait to bid until the end anyway and the item ends up just being lost in the shuffle throughout the 7 days. If I had something that was rare and needed time for the right person to see it, I would list it as 7 or 10 days. Most of the time though I'm selling common items that a multitude of people might want. I usually start my 3 days on a Wednesday so they end on a Saturday night. Lately though, I'm having good luck if they end on any night!

I mainly sell kids clothing though and with people buying for back to school all my auctions are doing really well.

Thanks so much for the quick responses. I've been selling childrens clothes as well. Lots of Gymboree and Disney Store stuff (of course). I've been doing pretty well too.

Kids clothes do very well this time of year. I used to give Michael's clothes away when he outgrew them but now I sell them on eBay! It pays for the next size!

Check the Auctionbytes Calendar for suggestions on how to start and end your auctions and how long to run them. Three day auctions work better if it clears the weekend and ends on Sunday. I sell alot to homemakers and they seem to do much of their lurking and shopping on the weekends and bid on Sunday nights. Collection type merchandise is sought after by enthusiasts so they can go at anytime, but they need to be up longer to give them time to find it.

I always do 7 day auctions. Although people may bid at the last moment, it gives 7 days of people to be able to see it and decide to bid.

Some people only check out eBay once a week or so...
