When you first interviewed, how long did it take to find out if you got the job or not? I interviewed last Monday, and understand that they have to interview others and go through a "process", but I'm not sure how long is normal. I did call the principal on Friday, and she said they were still going through it, but that she would call me either way.

Brother in law was recently hired. He has 3 years of teaching experience and looked for a school district with more stability. Anyway,

He got called in for a 2nd interview. He was told that there were two other candidates interviewing for the same position. The second interview happened a week and a half after his first interview.

If it doesn't work out, check the web for more openings. In Dayton, Ohio; most of the school districts share a web site that posts openings and applicants can fill out forms. It is kind of a consortium. Also the teachers union might have a jobs board on the web. My wife teaches music, and in Ohio, OMEA has job listings on their web site. Good Luck.

It can take anywhere from a few days to over a week. It all depends on how many interviews - over potentially a couple of days, gathering references. I would hope that the principal will call you either way - I had a district not call or respond the e-mails I sent. I figured after a few weeks, I didn't get the job. I hope it works out and you hear soon.

I interviewed on a Monday at 1:00pm and was called the next day at 10:00am. I've know other people who waited two weeks. It depends on several factors.

It's good that you called the principal back. It shows a real interest in the position. She will remember that you called.

Good Luck!

BTW, what do you teach?

I went through this for the first time last summer. If I remember correctly:

Application in at the beginning of June (advertised to the public)
First interview after July 4
Second interview about 1 1/2 weeks later
Offered the position about 1 1/2 weeks after second interview
Second week in August setting up my classroom

It seemed like such a long process. It feels like a roller coaster ride for a while especially if you are interviewing at other districts at the same time!

Good luck!

Nothing yet-Ha Ha! This would be for middle school math and science. This was my second interview. My first was way, way back in March at the beginning of teacher recruitment. I really wasn't going to look for a permanent teaching job until next year, but if they offered it to me, I would take it because it is at a good school. So, it's been a little over a week since my second interview-We'll see!
