On November 29, 2012, Jet Blue is discontinuing its non-stop flight between Burlington, Vermont and Orlando. This will increase travel time from 3 hours to 6-7 hours with a layover in JFK.

I emailed JetBlue Wednesday night late (Nov. 7th) and at 1:00 pm on the Thursday, Nov. 8th, a representative from Jet Blue called me to discuss the matter!! Talk about fast customer service:thumbsup2

She couldn't have been nicer and told me that this discontinuation was the biggest complaint that Jet Blue had received in a very long time.

She also enouraged me to get everyone I know that it impacts to go to the Jet Blue website (or email) and let them know how much they want the non-stop service back.

It's not just Vermonters that this affects, I personally know people from New York, Quebec and Ontario who come to the Burlington, Vermont airport just for the non-stop flight.

So, I'm asking as many people as possible to let Jet Blue know that this non-stop flight between BTV and MCO is wanted and needed. :mic:

Thanks!!!

I know it's only been a couple of hours since I posted, but does the discontinuation of this non-stop flight affect anyone else?

If so, please let Jet Blue know, the person I spoke to said that enough feedback does make changes to scheduling.

Sorry for the begging. A non-stop flight saves me about 4 hours of traveling and lost luggage. I think we've all experienced that!::yes::

I was surprised last month when I bought my plane tickets that I had to stop to JFK, but the tickets were still a lot cheaper than Montréal, so I'm still going.

I do wish they has a direct flight. I'm going in february.
I don't think that a complain a month after buying my ticket will affect much the company. And I'd rather not pay even more for my flight.

Also, I'm not the best english speaker out there. I'm not sure how I should write.

And....if this route had been making enough $$$ it probably would still be there. The truth is these decisions are all driven by that

Yes, they hear the complaints, but....it all comes down to their bottom line

lynpixie, I'm originally from Montreal, so I understand. Jet Blue has many customers from Montreal in Vermont. Don't worry about your English, just go to their website and very simply let them know you want the non-stop flights back. They are translation websites out there.

I have been taking this flight many, many times and yes, it did cost more, but it was always at full capacity. It was only once a day and only 3-4 days a week so I don't see how it couldn't have been a money-maker. It always sold out months in advance.

Full has nothing to do with it,,, price does. And it not only has to make money it has to be more profitable then other routes that might use the same equipment.

The truth is if it was making the profit The airline wanted it would still be on their schedule.

There must be other people who use the BTV-MCO route who have an opinion and would like to see the non-stop back. Companies have responded to consumer responses before.

Going from your id OrangeCountyCommuter, I respectfully doubt that you use this route, so I would really like to hear from other people that do use the route. Thank you.

I am sorry you don't want the truth to rain on your parade, but the airlines are a business. They generally don't cancel flights that are making the "return" they expect and do cancel those that aren't. It's that simple, it's not a "we don't love your home town" decision.

I don't think my "facts" are interfering with your "effort" it just appears there aren't a lot of flyers on here for that route

(And just out of curiousity, what do you think my "user name means" It's probably not what you think. :rotfl2: Maybe you should assume a little less???)

If someone doesn't like what another person is posting, then they are free to just move along and not read the thread!! There is no room here for making people feel attacked.
While I do understand that a poster can't rule who gets to, and who doesn't get to, post on a thread they started, it is not up to another poster to tell them what to do either. Seriously???? Why is it that every person has to believe they have 'the' right response????

So...here's how this is going to go. The OP asked that other people impacted by JB's decision to change their routes contact JB and comment on that change. Fine. It matters not what the reason is. We all realize that an airline changes it's routes all the time...and those changes are usually based on profit. But if those people flying on that particular route, now stop flying JB, and choose another airline, then perhaps JB will make further changes.

The point has been made about businesses and profits. Move along. There is no reason for the attitudes here.

I've only had one response from someone who uses the BTV-MCO route on Jet Blue. Surely there are others out there who this change will impact?
Thanks. :)

I understand your frustration, but in all reality, I doubt you're going to accomplish what you want by posting here. JB is a business...they will change routes based on business and profits. Your route is probably not a hugely popular route. Yes, you may see that your flights are full, but if JB isn't making money, they will discontinue that route....plain and simply.
They aren't a charity, trying to make everyone happy. I live 25 mins from Worcester Airport. It is sooo nice to fly in/out of there, but no, the airlines come, and they go. It just doesn't seem to be profitable for them. JB is looking at flying from there, so we'll see. But, they aren't doing anything that isn't going to make them money.
And it won't make much difference if you can find 50 people to send JB letters about the route change. Sorry, but that's just doing business.

Another issue is airport costs. They have to pay for the counter and gate space, landing fees. Alot of airlines are pulling out of small airports, it's hard to make a profit with limited usage. Also, Orlando is a tough route, the number of leisure passengers vs business passengers makes it hard to charge high fares. They rely on business travelers who will be willing to pay high fares for last minute travel. Probably not alot of business travel Burlington-Orlando but there is to JFK, where they can offer connections to many cities.
