For a plain eater

Hi,

While I don't have special dietary needs per se, I'm kind of a plain Jane when it comes to my dinners. I don't like fancy sauces or glazes or things like that. For that reason, I tend not to make any ADRs for dinner. Most ADR's we make are for buffets (character dining).

I don't know why it dawned on me now (a bazillion trips to WDW and I think of this now :lmao: ) but has anyone just asked for something plain? We were looking at Le Cellier and I love steak, but I just don't want all of that stuff on it. I would think that this wouldn't be difficult, but I was wondering if there are others like me out there....it's not like I can't eat it, but for what you pay in WDW, I'd like to atleast know I'll like it! It's just DH & I - no kids.

Thanks for any input!

Another picky eater here...

I went to LeCellier last summer, and ordered the filet mignon minus the barbeque glaze. There were no problems with this and the steak was suberb! I have also been known to order cheesecake at Disney restaurants minus all the fancy glaze / flavored decorative gels on the cheesecake and plate, and this was also not a problem. I've found Disney to be very accommodating.

We are a whole boring eating type of family, and will ask for everything plain! :lmao:
We are only doing character meals for TS though, because the otherwise "nice" restaurants just wouldn't appeal to us plain jane eaters.

Glad to know I'm not alone. DH will eat just about anything but I think that that is because he is one of eight kids and it was all survival! My sister and I get weird looks (and occasional comments like the time the waiter called me Bugs Bunny) when we order salads with no dressing...and I have nieces that I'm surprised ever grew up because they always seemed to just want a roll and butter :rotfl: .

I can't wait to go to Le Cellier now!

Thank you both!

Another plain eating family checking in!!! Nice to see there are others of us out there.

I wasn't sure how in the world this was going to work the 1st time we went but we definitely found lots to eat. I did learn after the first night to make sure I asked for stuff without sauce. I forgot the first night when we ate at the Concourse Steakhouse and I did NOT like the zing that was in my steak. I choked it down because we were paying for it but I learned.

We ate there several other times and it was great without the sauce.

We are definitely the plain steak & plain potato type of people (OK, butter on the potato). Even my DH asks for his salads "lettuce & dressing only".

We went on the Premium plan back in 2005 -- we did do a TON of character meals but one of our favorites was actually Fulton. It was kind of funny here we are going to the Fulton's Crab house and NONE of us ordering seafood because none of us like it.

Let's see if I can do this from memory where we at (if not I know there is a link to my trip report).

Yachtsman Steakhouse -- one DH has requested to go again.

Concourse Steakhouse (several times because we were staying at the Contemporary).

Chef Mickey's

Crystal Palace

The Castle for breakfast

The Princess meal in Epcot

ABC Commisary

Food & Fun place at Contemporary

Liberty Tree Tavern

Fulton's

Trails End (probably our least favorite).

Donald's breakfast

Rainforest Cafe

Tony's (which we liked despite bad reviews here)

Sci-Fi

We did have ADR's for Le Cellier but we ended up cancelling because we didn't feel like going out again that night, so we ended up at the Concourse place again.

It was really nice because they had just changed the ages for children's menus, etc... and my DD was 11 at the time so was stuck right in the middle. They had no problems with her ordering off the kid's menu. I know I had one child that literally had Mac & Cheese at every meal he could get it at.

My husband does NOT like sauces or gravys or glazes or reduced wine reductions or whatever. He wants his meat plain. And asks for it that way. And gets it that way. He also doesn't like seasonal vegetables or any other kind of vegetable for that matter. He absolutely HATES mashed potatoes in any form. So he substitutes with anything else he sees listed on the menu.

With Disney, all you have to do is ask. I don't think in all our meals, my husband has had a request turned down (including removing all diced tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, and onions from his salads).
