For 54 years my mother held me in her arms on my birthday

I haven't been what your going through. Mom is usually the happiest when all of her kids and grandkids are there to see her (brother lives thousands of miles away). Take care.

I will be 51 on the 31st and this is my 7th birthday without my mother! She loved birthdays! I could pick out exactly what I wanted to eat and she would decorate as much for birthdays as Christmas to make it ones own special day. HUGs and then some more to you my fiend!

If you have your mother with you still...appreciate her...love her...hug her...and even if she drives you crazy, reach out to her.

If you are estranged from your mother, for any reason, no matter whose fault it is, no matter why....reach out to her NOW. Don't wait. You won't always have her and you are going to miss her very much when she is gone.

Its been 6 months for me, Dad died in Jan 04, I still keep hearing the phone in my head...He would call me for everything.....I am also having a hard time in the grocery store. I used to shop for him and my family at the same time.
My Mom died in 2001, but she was sick for 13 years. I really miss her touch and her sparkling brown eyes, which dulled so much due to that wicked Alzheimers.
My thoughts are with you......

I'm so sorry you're having such a rough birthday. My mom and I have never been very close, but we have started spending some time together in the last couple years, since I've grown up and put things behind me. It's my grandma that I miss so much, she and my grandpa raised me because mom didn't want to deal with my health issues, and now my sweet, wonderful grandma is in a nursing home at the age of 63 with Alzheimers. She doesn't speak, so I don't know if she recognizes me or not, but only rarely does she have that look in her eyes that I remember so much and love so much.

Just from your post, it sounds like your mom was such a special person, I'm sorry for your pain.

it will get easier Katholyn, not better, but easier. I still miss my Dad (he's been gone for 2 1/2 years) and cry for him all the time. It will get easier.

I understand how you feel . My mother got sick with cancer at age 54, passed away at 58 years of age. It was the worst day of my life. It's been 12 years this year. She passed away in November and that Christmas was the worst ever.

Now matter how old you are when your mother passes away, it's the worst feeling.
