I have been watching several places on my weather app, I just wondered if there was a better way. It looks like we will be between storms on the way down, leaving Friday am. Keeping my fingers crossed. Still looking for tips on things to see and places to eat.

you should be ok leaving Friday am. as far as things to see, I don't stop and as far as places to eat, I don't stop. :lmao: sorry. have a nice trip anyway. :thumbsup2

We also use a number of cities on our smart phone weather app: Baltimore, Richmond, Fayetteville and Savannah. And, of course, lake Buena Vista (which is 86-degrees and partly cloudy at this moment!).

All the best. :lmao:

hey bc, I wanted to ask you. what hotel do you stay at when you arrive at wdw? I think a remember you saying you stay on hotel plaza blvd the first night.
looks like we are leaving on a Wednesday around 1am and arriving Wednesday around 4pm. we are staying at beach club and I don't want to pay $400 for six hours to reserve the night. (im cheap :lmao:)

Howdy, dvczerfs!

If we do a "straight through" drive we usually stay at the Holiday Inn on Hotel Plaza Blvd. and sometimes at the nearby Holiday Inn Express, but that facility has been getting a bit run down of late.

The HI is a bit more expensive than the HIE, and the HI doesn't provide the so-called "free" breakfast. However, that's not a major concern for us: once we check and drive to our WDW hotel we always have an arrival breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe.

Now then...we plan to go back in April and EXPECT to see Briana there! :goodvibes

All the best. :thumbsup2

hi bc!!!!! look at that, only one trip this year. (give you chance to catch up a bit) :thumbsup2

Only one? For some reason, we doubt that. Knowing you, they'll probably be a second drive that you will manage to include in your 2014 plans. ;)

And if you were to make only one round-trip drive for the next decade, we still couldn't catch up to you. :worship:

I'm not BC, but we have stayed at the Double Tree on Hotel Plaza Blvd. I get the Mousesaver rate which includes Continental breakfast for 2 adults & 2 kids. I have even sat out in their parking lot making reservations on my laptop. I use the link in the Mousesavers website. Usually get decent price for the room and it is a suite with a bedroom, living room & kitchenette (small fridge, sink & microwave.) Living room has a sofa bed. Bedroom had either a king or 2 doubles (or maybe queen, can't remember). Nice & clean, but a little further away from DTD than the Hilton.

ahhh, forgot about double tree. the plan is to arrive around 4pm or so, head over the dtd for a walk and most likely will go to bed early after the drive. head over to beach club around 7am and check in. if the rooms not ready, head over to earl of sand. for breakfast. ill check it out! thanks disneyholic! :thumbsup2 (tonight at dinner B mentioned something about a shooting at race and Lehigh?)

Yup. Passed the intersection on the way to the bank yesterday. Cops were already there. Couldn't see anything but cop cars. Didn't find out till later what happened. Just down the hill from my house. WOW!

As for the Double Tree. We found it was very nice. A few trips back we realized DH had forgotten his AmEx Card at home. We were planning on using it for the hotels before & after our cruise. We called AmEx and they said they could overnight it, but we were getting on a cruise before they could get it to us so they said they would overnight it on the next Friday so it would get to the Double Tree by Saturday when we got off the cruise. When we got there they said there was no mail for us. They don't get mail on Saturday unless it is special delivery (which this would have been) and it was Labor Day weekend so their next delivery was on Tuesday afternoon & we were leaving Tuesday morning to drive home. (Apparently someone at AmEx decided to go cheap figuring they had a week to get it there and mailed it regular mail on Tuesday, but with no delivery to the hotel on Saturdays it didn't get there.) The front desk girl called their Post Office & found that the envelope was in their lockbox. The manager drove 20 minutes each way to pick up the mail, just so we could get the card and check in. (Their PO was not the close one of course) Talk about going above and beyond.

wow. I am always afraid im going to forget money or credit cards. as long as you have your card you can just about buy anything you may forget.
I didn't realize double tree is part of Hilton. ill have to check it out. I tried last night but my internet was slow for some reason.
(is it just me, but your post don't fit on the screen. I have to shrink it to 75% to be able to fit it on. is it just me?)

That was your 8,888th post!

That number also translates to the mileage in four round trip WDW drives. ;)

All the best. :thumbsup2

So, the summer it is. And, yes, no popcorn! popcorn::

All the best. :thumbsup2

hello, my name is dave, dvczerfs here on the boards. are you new here? :lmao:

S H A R O N !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

where have you been hiding!!!!! I was going to text you soon if I didn't hear from you. hope everything is going ok.
oh the princess is driving me crazy. she is not use to the slow pace of home.as soon as I find out what games she will be at, I will let you know. she is coaching the ironettes dance team again.
yes!!!! I have your green ears on my desk in my office. :lmao: I just need your address and ill send them to you.
heres a video of the first practice the kids had after she left for wdw. of course they sent it to her the second week she was there and B was home sick.:lmao:
(sorry, couldnt get it to work. lol

:wave2: :rotfl::lmao::rotfl::lmao:

That's great. We are okay, busy at work and school stuff. Lauren's in the school play and chorus stuff, lots of driving around. She just auditioned for the "big" show - Music Man. We'll see if she gets in. She decided to quit the band because it was too much. I was disappointed because I love band, but as she said "Mom, I'm all about the singing and acting" so band had to go. Good for us, less practices and no more saxophone rental.

We have been snowed and iced in for weeks. Most people around here lost power, tons of trees down, we got hit the worst along with Chester County. Been working from home all week.

I'm sure B will start getting busy once the weather breaks. She's probably got to "come down from the high" of all the activity and excitement of WDW.

Our next trip is most likely June 2015. Maybe we can coordinate dates.

We'll keep in touch. Once the weather breaks, you guys can come over maybe?

glad to hear. we didn't get as much ice as you did. keep me posted on the music man. they start getting older and things have to go. it gets to be too much.
as far as next june................. im not sayin nothing!!!!! :lmao:

briana tells me today a guy she went to college with who did the Disney college program jan 2013 to aug 2013 ( briana was from may 2013 to jan.2014) who by the way vowed never to do it again, has applied for the fall advantage program. I think the wheels are starting to turn.:lmao:
I have a feeling someone is a little Disney cm life home sick. going from the hustle and bustle and always having friends and two major parks to hang out at, to living with the old people is putting her in shock.:lmao:
I have to say, its nice to have her home again. if she would go back down, I would guess it would be easier on all three of us. 1100 miles away and living in a place that people from all over the world come to visit kinda makes mom and dad worry a little but she did a good job handling it. (along with pepper spray.lol)

what ever she wants to do is fine but I don't think I could handle another program, financially or anything else. :lmao:

don't forget to pm me your address so I can mail these out. talk to you soon.:thumbsup2

Hi, I actually took a look at the records and I have one for you. In 2000 Dave and I took my family down there.....20 of us!!! We rented a 15 passenger and fit 12 people in the van, plus 3 other cars. Our niece broke her leg right before we left and needed a wheelchair through the parks. Needed 2 tables at the Hoop-Dee-Doo, and my brother was picked on by Dolly. Now that was a family vacation to remember. We used our points and got a 3 bedroom and 2 bedroom at OKW. That was before we even adopted our 2 boys. Haven't done that again!!!! :scratchin I wonder why?????? :hyper:

Trust me, when we "landed" at OKW, that was the first thing the adults got out of the coolers!!!!

Overall it was a great week. I will have to scan the group shot from Animal Kingdom.

At the Hoop-Dee-Doo, our server, Dallas, plopped a pitcher of beer with a straw in front of my brother!!!!! It was funny!!!!!!!!!!!
