I usually wake up early the day before we leave so I am tired. I agree that I can be too tired to sleep so I usually don't need an alarm. It's like its christmas morning!

After we get to WDW, I am tired but the excitement wins out. I get a good night sleep for night 1 then I am ready to go.

how long of a drive is that for you guys Cheryl?

liar, liar, pants on fire!!!!! :rotfl:
Sorry, just went back into my planner and pulled out the April trip.

This time we left RI at 12:57am and drove straight down and pulled into Disney at 4:07pm.....just in time for dinner. total miles was 1537. We stopped 5 times for gas, bathroom, and food. Dave was on a mission! ;) We live in Warwick and stayed at Beach Club Villas this time. So there you go.

Cheryl

When you get there how tired are you and I was thinking of doing something like this but what did you do to make sure you were able to sleep at 7 pm I was thinking of getting up at 4 am the morning before so i would be tired early but am afraid it will backfire and be even more tired lol

Dave is tired, but he does ok. As long as we are there before the midnight hour, he can drive without issues. The boys are fine as long as I let them out of the car each stop to run around, do some jumping jacks and generally let off energy. As for me, as long as I have a good book, I am fine.

@sharadoc - we are in Spring Ford too. Leaving on Black Friday around 1 am and going to make it the whole way down. Should be there around dinner time. Hoping not to hit residual thanksgiving traffic.

Hi Neighbor! We were going to be there that week since kids have off school.
But we decided to move it to later in December. If you can leave at 1 am and not be exhausted, that timing should work out great. I hate driving at night and DH doesn't like it either so we'd rather split it up into two days.

The question is - do I know you???

well, I ordered our bands this weekend. we are not going to do fast pass plus this trip. heres are problem, tammy and I have aps. I didn't renew brianas because she gets in for free. cast members cant use fast pass plus.(could you see if they could. you would never get a fast pass for anything.:lmao:)
i can only get two fps in advance. so we are going to do it the old fashion way. i forget what day your getting there, she was approved for vacation for the 20th and the 21st.(im sure she will be working 10 - 12 hour days till jan 3rd ater that.lol)

We're there the 15th to the 22nd. So that means she can make our dinner on the 20th, right?? I can't wait to hear all of her horror/wonderful stories!!

we make the worse time ever- lol- my wife and 3 kids can never coordinate when we need a potty break and who's hungry and all that. Sometimes it feels like I stop 15 or 20 times- laughing.

But I have to ask- is there a typo in there? that's at little over 15 hours to go 1500+ miles and stop 5 times. I dont want to even do the math out loud on that for an average MPH.

As was noted, are you sure there isn't a typo in there? If I'm doing the math right, it works out to 100mph with stops!! If it is correct, I think I saw you pass us once.:lmao:

im up at 3:30-4am to go to work and my wife can drop off to sleep at any givin second.:lmao:

we were fine. like I said, I don't sleep anyway the night before. I just toss and turn. we get there at 5pm, check in, hang out at the resort, eat and make it an early night and hit rope drop the next morning.

why is the roof of the castle blue?

whats that rope for coming off the castle?

where the restroom?

Yes, bladder coordination among the 4 of us is a big key to our success! Also, my ability to drive at night and my dh's ability to sleep at the drop of a hat, means we have an easy time of it, no matter what time we leave. It is definitely a blessing. Plus we plan a "dead day" the day of arrival, just to enjoy whatever resort or hotel in FL we make as our "dead day destination" on the way depending on our departure time.

One trick we've developed over the trips is planning our stops in shorter timeframes as the day goes on. We start with 4 hours between breaks (two segments), then down to 3 hours, and down to 2 hours...it probably wouldn't work for a lot of folks, but we find it keeps us fresh. :goodvibes

P.S. $3.09 for regular at the LukeOil just off the NJ Turnpike at Delaware Memorial Bridge today...

Transportation used today: boat from Boardwalk to Hollywood Studios! :cool1:

dvczerfs: I spoke to your favorite CM on the phone while she was dining in China (we were in Morocco). We're gettin' closer for that ultimate meet 'n' greet.

All the best. :thumbsup2

How do you handle the drive back? We have been diving 11 yrs in a row from CT(30-40 mins from Warwick)we always leave early and stop for the night. This year we rode the auto train down in coach. It was nice waking up in FL but we didn't sleep much.

We live about a half hour from Warwick in SE MA. I wish we could get there in 15 hrs!!!
We just can't drive straight through the night. We stop in NC/SC overnight.
It takes us like 21 hrs. I can't believe how much time you really save driving through the night! That is awesome!! ;)

OMG....I am very bad. After further looking this is what I have:
left at 12:57am. 1st stop from 5am-5:12 mile 270
2nd stop: 8:30-8:45am mile 500
3rd stop: 12:09-12:22 mile 754
4th stop: 2:55- 3:05 mile 952
5th stop: 6:16-6:27 mile 1190
We checked in at 8:15 Just a hair over 19 hours.
This is where I made a mistake. In my planner, we left for home at 4:07 on Saturday, and in my haste to post I didn't really pay attention to that....sorry about that folks.

And yes, Dave drives extremely fast!!!!!

Sorry for my boo-boo. I do beg forgiveness in that 2 weeks from now I will turn 47 and the memory is just not as good as it used to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lmao:

We usually drive straight through on the way home too. We just leave a bit later than when we go down and just suffer miserably since we just left the happiest place on earth.

Disney Hess (regular) dropped a penny to $3.28.

Don't attempt to park at DTD until the new parking garages are built later this century. :(

All the best. :thumbsup2
