FOP Standby Queue

We were at Disney in mid-July and rode FOP without a fastpass for the first time. The wait was long, but the silver lining was getting to see the standby queue. I was excited to show my kids the famous life-sized avatar floating horizontally in a clear tube of liquid. But somehow we never saw it. I don’t think that’s the kind of thing one would just fail to notice in a slow moving line, especially since we were gawking at everything, and I was specifically looking out for it (though I didn’t know exactly where it would be). What happened? Is it sometimes not on display?

That is odd, but i'm guessing because they diverted the queue line. We rode FOP at rope-drop, and the line went right next to it. Kinda slowed the line down b/c everyone was taking photos, us included. Right after that they line you up to go into the video presentation rooms. Later in the evening the line was diverted far away from it. If you didn't realize it was there you'd miss it because the queue took you around the circular computer type exhibit into the boarding area.

We rode at RD once & I noticed the line was diverted where you walked by (like in the same room but opposite sides) so you weren't right up next to it. I actually stopped for a moment to look around for it too cause I wondered where it went.

I call him Hank in the Tank, and sometimes he's not there. I mean he gets actually removed. Eventually they put him back.
