Yes, my 6 year old was not very fond of the ride. She held on to her mom the whole time screaming. It may have been to intense for her. I was on the other side of her and was able to keep a hand on her if I needed to.

The safety instructions ask you to keep your hands on the handlebars at all times. So officially, the answer is probably no, even if it is possible.
