I was thinking about the way your legs must be forced into a certain position to be locked in.

I suppose it could, depending on the issue. Your weight should be on the seat, not on your knees, but you do need to be able to bend your knee to around 90 degrees. Possibly a little further, depending on your height and body shape. I didn't notice any pressure on my knee joints, either from the restraints or the position itself, but if you have a knee problem that causes pain even from passive bending, then it could be a valid concern.

I wouldn't have wanted to try it in the week or two after an ACL surgery, but then I wouldn't have wanted to be walking around the parks at that point either.

Honestly, it was uncomfortable on my knees. I am in pain quite often, so I kind of just went with it. I rode it twice because my mom was a fan, but I don't look forward to ever riding it again. It also hurt my arms and hands because I was trying (not successfully) to distribute my weight away from my legs.

That's going to be a very individual thing. It'll depend on your personal knee issues, physical size, how you sit in the seat, etc...

I have "bad" knees and it didn't bother me.

This won't be able to be answered because everyone is different in regards to their knee issues. I have bad knees, one very bad, lifelong pain due to RA. This year has been a bad year for them. I had no issues at all on the ride (rode 3x). BUT someone else may ........ only thing you can do is test the ride vehicle out front to know.

I have one knee that gives me issues, and in trying the test seat I found the combination of the seat and my long legs was going to be a painful proposition. There were some others in our group that didn’t fit for various reasons, so we went to Nomad while the others rode. We did the test seat a couple days before our FP so we could cancel the ones that weren’t going to be used. I recommend everyone try the test seat if they think there could be an issue, even if it’s not a weight related one. Better to know in advance than be locked into agonizing pain for the duration of the ride.

Can't you try the test seats, to find out if it will hurt your knees?

EDIT: Okay, answered in post above.

I was also worried about the positioning on the ride. I didn't feel forced into the seat in any way; it was more like riding on a motorcycle.

I was wondering the same for those with back probs since I heard they lock something in on your back?

Here is a picture of the test seat showing the restraints.
