Any opinions? I'm looking at my closet and don't know what shoes to bring. I have some comfy canvas slip-ons, but if it rains....

I'm having the same issue. We are going 12/26-1/1. I plan on bringing my boots because they are comfy...along with my croc clogs. I'm so not used to only have 2 shoe options though!

I'm planning on wearing a pair of Bear Paws (similar to Uggs) on our travel days. We're coming in from Detroit so it'll be pretty cold up here. For days that we're in Florida for the whole day I'm planning to take a pair or 2 of skate shoes with decent arch support.

ETA: This trip for me isn't in late December, but late November/early December, but on my last trip 12/30-01/02 I packed some "fur" lined crocs and my feet were pretty happy. I was lucky though that I didn't really get rained on.

I would just plan on a good pair of sneakers (trainers if you are British) Rain isn't a huge issue in December, so just bring your most comfortable pair of walking shoes. The weather can swing drastically and could end up being down right warm! I would pack a pair of flip flops just in case you feel the need to be footloose and fancy free. Flip flops are great as pool shoes and as bedroom slippers.

Thanks everyone! I'm also coming from some pretty cold temps (Alberta) but I was mostly worried about the rain in December and whether or not canvas type shoes (ie. Toms) would get wet. Sounds like anything goes, as long as the shoes are comfortable. I have some Adidas lightweight Puma-like shoes - those might be my choice.

What about clothes for December? From what I have researched it looks like mid 70's. So I am thinking T-shirts??

December weather in the south (especially Florida) can change at the drop of a hat. I go to WDW every Dec and have seen it anywhere from freezing to swimsuit weather (sometimes in the same trip:rotfl:). We were there the second week of Dec last year and wore jeans and light jackets at the beginning of the week, but wore shorts, tank tops, and went swimming by the end of the week. A few days after we got home I was reading where a cold front had blown through and everyone was wearing heavy coats. Several years ago we were down there the same week and almost froze. I couldn't believe Florida could get that cold. We wore heavy coats, gloves, scarves, and hats all week. The year before we were there the exact same week and wore shorts all week. My point is you just never know in Dec or Jan what the weather is going to do. Check the extended weather forcast before you leave, but even then pack for every eventuality. Plan on layers and pack accordingly. Yeah, we always pack light coats, gloves, long sleeve shirts, t shirts, and jeans, but then throw in some shorts and swim suits.:rotfl: We've worn them all on the same trip more than once.

I go in January, and believe it or not, I wear my flipflops almost everyday. It's always been nice weather for us with highs in the 60s-80s. I wear my Uggs on the plane so I have them in case it ever gets really cold. The flipflops are terrific in the rain, although it doesn't rain near as much in the winter.

This was helpful for me and our jan trip. going to start packing soon and was curious about the same thing.
