OK, I hear "change your shoes and socks when you go back to your hotal mid-day." I hear "sneakers and socks are better than sandals." I hear "Tevas!!! Crocs!!!"

I've always been very comfortable in sandals ... I have a couple of pairs that are well-built, sturdy and comfy. And I have good sneakers. So I feel confident that I'm OK.

My husband has chronic foot problems, so that's a whole 'nother issue.

My big concern is my kids ... sneakers with short socks? Sandals? Brand names? Prophylactic moleskin or wait for a hotspot? Anything else that helps? Powder? (we'll be in some sort of walking program to get

Give me the run-down on keeping little feet comfy for as long as possible. Thanks!

I also would like some input for my DS 5. In epcot there are places to play in the water and I don't think he would because he wouldn't want his shoes and socks wet. If I put him in sandles they might hurt his feet. What has everyone else with kids done? :confused3

We've always been very comfortable wearing footwear that is our normal type. DO NOT go out and buy any new footwear simply because it works for someone else. Going to WDW is no time to try out anything new.
If you are going in hot months, sandals are fine; if it's in cooler months, we wear sportshoes and socks.
No right or wrong. Just make sure everyone has their most comfie pair along, especially the young 'uns. A good way to test it out is spend a day shopping or go on a walk for say, a straight hour. ::MinnieMo :earsboy: :earsboy: ::MinnieMo

My ds12 wished he had extra shoes after playing in the epcot water places. He had his sneakers on and I warned him about getting his feet wet but, as a "tweener", he knew it all :confused3 needless to say, his feet were sore later that day. My dd3 was in sandals, but she was also in a stroller. She didn't have a problem with her feet (but she did appreciate us changing her wet clothes!).

Yeah, I think I will just let him pick the shoes he wants to wear and then grab a extra pair for the water or incase his feet get hot and tired and he wants a change. I just didn't want to tote around an extra pair of shoes. At his age they are still small shoes so I guess it really isn't a hugh problem. Thanks for the info!

My husband loves his Keen sandals, I love my tevas - all comfortably broken in, of course. As the trip progresses, we end up wearing short socks and sandals. I generally wear my tennis shoes and socks at Epcot because it is just so huge and my feet are not going to get wet (Kali River Rapids at AK, Splash Mtn. at MK). Sloshy shoes are not my idea of a good time. Wal-mart sells jogger socks that are supposed to reduce blisters.

We generally take an anti-inflamatory (spelling?) like advil before bed - feet seem to need it. And we keep band aids and moleskin on hand. Big thing: Check your kids' feet from time to time - they don't always know how to get specific when they say, "My feet hurt." Maybe it's just from walking - maybe a blister is forming.

As per AJ I also have the moleskin We have a small zip baggy that has the moleskin as well as bandaids and we carry that into the park, periodically check feet throughout the day and put moleskin on any hot spot (or even potential hot spot). it has saved us from many a blister!

Moleskin is a piece of adhesive with a soft flannel backing. I don't know how else to explain it. It doesn't look like much or like it will work, but I have used it several time and it's worked great!
You can find it is Walmart, Targets, Walgreens, etc anywhere you would find insoles, footsprays etc.

Thanks, we are going in 17 days I will be putting this on my list of things to get.

On the past three trips I've taken to WDW I have worn my Teva or Reef flip-flops to the parks. I have never had a problem with my feet. I would never wear shoes with socks b/c I don't ever wear them in the summer. In fact, I hate having to go back to school b/c I have to wear my grown up shoes.
