Based ONLY on the food, which is better for dinner, Ohana or Kona? Why?????
We have an Ohana ressie but I am considering switching to Kona because I am not too happy with the time of our Ohana ressie, just curious about the food.

We LOVE Kona! The food at Ohana is really good, don't get me wrong, but the meat tends to be kinda dried out. The Shrimp and Scallops and Creme Brulee at Kona is to die for!!! My DH really loved his Tuna there too.

I love love LOVE Kona!! The food is wonderful, one of the best meals I've had at WDW was at Kona. I would go there based solely on the food, but the service was wonderful also. Fast friendly service. I can't wait to back in June:lovestruc

We much prefer Kona. Some of the grilled meats at Ohana were quite dry when we ate there and DH hates to peel-n-eat shrimp, too messy and too much work for him! The chicken wings there are delicious, however you can get similar wings at Kona. Also, none of us likes bread pudding.
We have eaten at Kona 2-3 times before and will be back on our upcoming trip. The filet is no longer on the menu there, but those in our group thought it was better than the one they had at Le Cellier. We have had the potstickers, crab cakes, and chicken wings before - all good. I have had the shrimp and scallop entree, which was quite good. Looks like the rest of the entree menu has changed since our last visit so I cannot comment on the rest. The desserts are delicious.

We like 'Ohana better.

In the last three years, since we first visited Kona, the quality and service have both slipped. It was among our favorites in 2006, middle of the pack in 2007, and one of the disappointments in 2008.

Those same three years (the Poly years for us!), we had consistently good food and service at 'Ohana.

I'm on the fence about 2009, not sure if we'll return or look for something else.

We much prefer the food at Kona. The apps and sides are pretty equal but the entrees at Kona are way better than the meats at Ohana in our opinons

I think we just decided to do Kona over Ohana. I like having dessert options. :)

JUst made ressies today for our trip in a few days...luck out and are heading back to Kona!! Love it.

I would have to say Kona. Not that I don't love O'hana, however the selection alone makes Kona "better". I love them both, but if I was going strictly for the food, I'd pick Kona.

Definitely Kona. We found the food at O'Hanas inedible except for the bread pudding- that was pretty much my dinner along with a bite of my son's grill cheese. Kona has excellent filet and their chocolate macadamia tart is YUMM-O!!!

We just ate a Kona on Friday night for our first time. I had really really really wanted O'Hana's, but that is a hard ressie to get at the last minute.

I must say, that it was one of the better meals I have eaten on property. The sticky wings were delicious. They are similiar to O'Hana's, but not exactly the same.

We also split the crabcake appetizer. That was a pretty presentation, but the crabcakes themselves were small.

I had the shrimp and scallop entree which was VERY good. My friend had the steak and he said it was a better steak than one he had earlier in the week at the Texas Cattle Company.

I would recommed trying it if the reservation time is more of what you are looking for.

We like both, but if I am rating it on Food only I would choose Kona. That said, I am a little upset by some of the menu changes, so I don't think we will eat here on our upcoming trip.
Have a Great Trip

I like both meals. Based strictly on food though, I would give the nod to Kona for one simple reason. You can order what you want on the menu.

Welcome to my world......menu changes abound! But that doesn't stop me from going to some of my favorite places. You'll find that they have been changing menus just about everywhere now.

Unless you only went to Kona for the filet, I have to tell you that they have some really good options. Biggest surprise was how wonderful the pork chop was.

We haven't eaten at Ohana yet, but I will agree with the poster who fellt that their filet was better at Kona than Le Cellier. Not only was the meat better, but it came with some perfectly cooked asparagus along with the potatoes. (Of course, now the filet is off of the menu at Kona, but I do feel that the meal that we had was an indication of the quality at Kona.) DBF had the tuna Oscar at Kona and it was also very good. We loved the desserts.
On our trip next month we're going to try some signature restaurants while we still have the Tables in Wonderland discount, but we'll try to get to Kona for lunch.

Except for the turkey which DD loved, none of us really cared for Ohana. I was looking forward to the shrimp but found it too messy and too spicy for me to enjoy.

Kona was OK - we'd definitely pick it over Ohana if we wanted to eat at the Poly again.
