We're lookin' to make our first trip 'home' around the timeframe that the Food & Wine festival opens up. We've never been there before, but know that it's more convenient (in some ways) to go to the F&W Festival from BCV/BWV because of being so close.

Does the Boardwalk area get packed during these times?

Also, is there anything special planned for the first day of the festival that anyone knows about?

We're planning to take a peek at the BWV/BCV units and locations for future stays there as well. Are there DVC folks available at all times to show us the units? Or, do we have to tour on our own? Mind you, this is not to purchase additional points, just to check out the places.

During the food and wine festival all the DVC units are sold out, so that should tell you something about the crowds. There are a lot of people roaming around, but nothing like Spring break, in case you have been there at that time of year. There is always somebody at the BWV to show you around, during their regular hours. If you are planning to look at BCV, there may or may not be anyone there. It's a lot more spotty, so if you want to tour there, you should make an appt. or tell your tour guide when you are at BWV.

As for what's going on during Food and Wine, I can't help you. I know where I will be--slaving away in the salt mines, thinking about my retirement! Ten more years, and I will be able to visit Food and Wine, too!

Thanks Cruella.

Anyone know about the Food & Wine festival info I'm lookin' for?

Questions about the Food/Wine Festival are better asked and answered on the Theme Parks Board. It's not a DVC topic.

There's also been discussion about the Food & Wine Festival on the DIS Restaurants board.

We've stayed at BWV while going to the F&W Festival. It's very convenient. It's not like guests at the F&W Festival spill over from Epcot to the Boardwalk, or that the DVC rooms are packed to maximum capacity. If anything, there are likely to be more couples without children in the studios and 1BR units, so there should be fewer people than in the summer.

BWV might book up sooner during the F&W festival due to demand generated by the event and the advantageous point schedule at that time of the year. But, of course, they can't book more than 100% of the DVC capacity (and, eventually, the member inventory at the DVC resorts is booked near 100% for most of the year.)

So don't worry about the Boardwalk being more "packed" during the Festival.

I just made reservations for my husband and I to go to the F&W Festival last week. We are going Nov. 6-10 and we were able to get all but the 6th at OKW (we are on the waitlist though). I didn't try for any of the other resorts, but I have a feeling they are sold out. The weekend that we are going is an extremely busy one because, not only is the F&W going on, there is also some soap opera thing at MGM, the Festival of the Masters at DD, and from what I understand, it is a popular time to go for people that live in NJ (school is out ?). If you are planning on going in October, you still might not be able to get BWV or BCV, but you might have luck with OKW.

As far as what is going on during the F&W Festival, you can check out Disney's website and they have a lot of information on all of the events. So far, the only one that we will be attending is the Party of the Senses on Nov. 8th.
