This will be my first time to visit WDW in October (16th – 20th) staying at SSR (first time to stay at this resort) for The Food & Wine Festival and we also have tickets for MNSSHP…just wondering what activities will be offered and if anyone has any advice to offer. :)

Planning on staying at WDW for a few nights before our Disney Cruise in Oct 2009, would also love to hear what Halloween and Food and Wine activities we should prioritize for our 3 night stay!

The only special event we've done is the Mothers' Day Brunch at F&W, but we have learned one lesson. Don't go on the weekend! Locals come in droves and the lines for the F&W booths are terrible. Weekdays at lunchtime are the best.

We are also going home for the first time to SSR October 2-7 and attending MNSSHP on the 2nd. Interested in hearing what others have to say.popcorn::

There is a lot going on! This will be our 3rd year. I recommend taking a look at the wdwinfo section of this website under Planning then events for the write up. Also allearsnet.com has some great info.

The food & Wine expo has a bunch of extra ticketed events... wine tastings, cooking classes etc.. In addition to the extra kiosks around the world, offering different foods and wines/beers. I agree with the poster that said try to stay away on weekend nights. It gets a little crowded.

MNSSHP is fantastic. Don't miss the parade. The villian meet and greet is great too. You see a lot of characters that you don't usually see. They let in ticket holders starting at 4PM. While they are clearing out the park, you can really just walk on rides.

Thanks for the info...I think I'm more excited about MNSSHP than the F&WF! :)

I've heard the Headless Horseman starts the parade. Is this still true? Do they run the parade more than once a night? If we take advantage of riding attractions, I'd hate to miss the parade...popcorn::

Dennis-

Yes the Headless Horseman preceeds the parade at MNSSHP. They normally schedule the parade to run twice. With all the announced cut backs to entertainment events we won't know what they are doing for this year until after the first party in September. The P & P Party originally had their parade scheduled twice each night but this year they cut it back to once each night. I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same for MNSSHP & MVMCP.

There are many events available as part of F & W, some cost extra. The food booths around WS are great but as others have posted get very crowded on weekends. There are free culinary demos, free wine tasting seminars and free beer tasting seminars although as of last year the only beer one was offered by Sam Adams.

I am having problems finding the dates for MNSSHP. Are they the same as the APH dates? I plan on going 9/30-10/7. Any help would be great!

Isn't the Mother's Day Brunch part of the Flower and Garden festival?

I agree with your thoughts on the F&W Festival...don't go on the weekend! We avoid EPCOT on F&W Festival weekends. We like to go on a weekday, midday and work our way half-way around World Showcase. We try one of everything from every booth and share it among the 4 of us. Then we do the other half on another day. If i had limited time I would only concentrate on those booths I really wanted to try...but that would be SO hard!

There will be several parties during your dates: 9/30, 10/2 and 10/7. There is a thread on the DisMeets board for the 9/30 party. You might want to check that out: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1913063

Call 407-W-DISNEY to order tickets.

This will be our third year at F&W Fest and MNSSHP.
I enjoy going into the F&W Fest headquarters which I believe was at the old Wonders of Life pavilion. You can attend free seminars there(usually lines start EARLY) but there is also a great gift shop area with tons of items related to wine and also a bar where almost all of the wines that are being served as samples in each country's kiosk can be purchases by the glass.
They also have the wines in bottles for sale and the cookbook with all the recipes of the sample items from the fest.

As far as MNSSHP, the best part to me is the TRICK OR TREATING!!!:yay:
I also love to get out my photopass and get pictures taken with the charactors in costumes. There are photo ops like this set up all over MK.

I'm sorry but I forgot to mention that We are in DVC. Are these also the same?

While there is a DVC discount for these dates, you are not limited to them. You can go to any of the parties that fall within your travel dates.

We'll be there, too! :goodvibes

MNSSHP is a blast. You will see people in extremely detailed costumes, and some in none. THere are spots to trick-or-treat for candy, and like previous posters mentioned special parade and fireworks.

The Headles Horseman is amazing--he only starts off the early parade, tho.
