Hi all. I'm trying wayyy in advance to plan a possible trip to WDW. I'd like to take my mom to a "happy place"... she's going thru a very rough time at the moment. Her uncle died on Dec. 7th after a long illness. Then my grandfather (her father) died on Dec. 11th after struggling with cancer. Then my dad died suddenly of a heart attack on xmas eve. It's been a very tough month on us and to make matters worse, they had been going on a vacation to St. Martaan in February which she's obviously cancelled. Anywho, I"d broached the subject of "getting away from it all" and she'd expressed some interest in going in the spring to WDW (fairly memory free for her)... my husband and I had been sort of planning on going this october for the f&w fest. My mom would enjoy both. So my question is what time of year is better crowd-wise, weather-wise, etc. for a newbie with not much patience (my mom)?? My husband and I have been 3 or 4 times to the F&W fest and enjoy it immensely - that's our preferred time of the year to go. So which should I choose and why?
This is all preliminary planning at the moment... she may feel that October is too soon for her to go away. I feel like May is too far away
I'll shut it now... haha sorry that turned out to be a book!

to you and your Mom. The poor lady. She must be in such shock. I have been to the World both in May and October. I prefer October. You can attend 2 of the best events WDW has to offer MNSHP and F&W festival. The crowds generally are low and the weather awesome. If you time it right you can get some good discounts. Your mother would probably enjoy the MNSHP its Disney at its finest. And October may give her enough time to be able to start to enjoy things again . That said, May is also enjoyable but it can be much hotter and depending on when you go more crowded ( Mothers Day, Grad nites and Memorial Day). We happen to be going in May this year but I'm secretly toying with going in Oct also. I miss not going to MNSHP.
