We are driving down from Missouri to DW in June. We are trying to budget as much as possible. We are staying at DW resort. What kind of food would be best for breakfast and lunch. We will have HUGE cooler to keep food in. Our goal is to eat breakfast in our hotel room and lunch too.

Any suggestions would be great:woohoo:

We are DVC members and always eat every breakfast in the room and lunch for the 1st few days too. Its really a great way to save on dining out.

Breakfast.

Home made muffins. You can freeze them before hand and bring them with you in the coolers and just leave them out at night to defrost.

cereal is great. Just bring papers bowls and you can get fresh milk at the CS or stores at each resort.

If you bring your toaster you can bring Frozen waffles and toast bread or english muffins. My kids love the Eggo's with whip Cream!! You can even have fresh Strawberries and yogurt too.

Lunch: Sandwiches are the most convenient. I'd do the Ham/Roast Beef Turkey earlier in the week and then swith to PB&J/fluff at the end of the week. Make sure to bring chips, cheese/string cheese, carrots & celery. You can even bring a few cans of tuna (dont' forget the mayo).

To spice it up a little, you could bring lose hamburg already cooked and make Taco's one day too.

Bagels, cream cheese, peanutbutter, cereal, oatmeal muffins and granola bars. Fruit is easy to eat as you are heading out the door.

This trip we took chips and snacks for the evening because we are always hungry when we get back to the resort at night. We also took the individual sized cereals. My DD ate these for breakfast each day to save her cs credit for later in the day. We found this worked well and just picked up a small milk in the food court each morning. It was cheap, easy and fast!

We always bring bagels, cream cheese, sometimes poptarts, cereal, grapes (my boys eat pounds of them while walking the World:cool1:), juice boxes, water (lots of water), flavor packets, granola bars, pretzels, nuts, and don't forget the M&M's:rotfl2: We are DVC members so we always have a kitchen. We ALWAYS eat breakfast in the room but not usually other meals (I don't cook on vacation:)) We bring lots of snackie stuff for the room and stuff that will hold up in a backpack.

A little off topic, but does any one know if they sell frozen waffles at the stores at the resorts? Will have a fridge after during stay but not one to carry them down to disney. Thanks.

Yes, most do, it is a favorite of my kids.

I also reccomend bringing the small Jiff peanut butter singles, in the parks you can get bread or crackers to put it on so it can save...and they are small so carying them is a snap.

Individual fruit/applesauce.

Also Yo-Gos (the yogurt in a tube)...I freeze them and use them as "ice" in our lunch bag. My kids love them.

Fopr breakfast I take cereal, granola bars, toast and peanut butter crackers, pop-tarts, etc.

For lunches you can also bring canned meat and meat salad products (I have seen several types of chicken, ham and tuna products both as salad and not) if you like them. We also would bring fresh fruits and veggies, cheese (both cube and sandwich slices), crackers, etc. I always take bread in a plastic container to keep from getting it mashed up, and of course peanut butter and jelly and other condiment items.

You might also want to bring microwave meals or soups as the food court areas have a microwave you can use.

Don't forget any desired side items, such as favorite chips, and snack items, cookies and fruit snacks.

We always bring peanut butter - to make sure our brand is available! ;) It comes in handy when nothing else is available. Pop-Tarts are good, as are granola bars and zip-lock bags filled with cereal. We too are DVC members and almost always eat breakfast "at home". We order from Garden Grocer (since we fly to WDW and do not rent a car) and generally have eggs, cereal or toast. Think about bringing a case of water if you can manage it.

For purchasing perishable items (or for that matter, any additional food items), think about heading over to Publix, Wal-Mart or Winn Dixie since you have a car. They are much cheaper there then at WDW. For example, I have been noticing how much Coke products are increasing in price here at home. I can only imagine what they are now charging at WDW.
.

We made a stop at WalMart to pick up breakfast food and snacks. We got ceral, milk, bananas, coffee cake/cinnamin rolls, juice, and a 12 pack of bottled green iced tea to take with us to the parks each day. We would drink the tea and then use the bottle to refill with water throughout the day. A bottle of Coke or water at the parks is 2.50. To me, that's crazy! Also, WalMart also has a huge disney souveneir section where we picked up toys, t-shirts and mugs for more than 50% off what we would have paid for them at Disney, and YES, it is REAL DISNEY merchandise!
