Food! Terrible Food!

Worst meal we have had..........Alfredo's in EPCOT. Is it true that they are closed?

I don't think all of Disney food is terrible but we have had a couple of inedible meals. Most recently at Beaches & Cream and Captain's Grill.

B&C was always a favorite for some juicy burgers but when we went there last month the burgers tasted something like those frozen burgers you buy at Costco with freezer burn. Gross!

Captain's Grill we both had steaks. Neither was cooked to order. DH's was a little overcooked and very tough. Mine was partially undercooked and partially over cooked (I will NEVER know how they did that??!!!) again it was tough, tiny! and had no flavor despite being marinated in some type of bourbon something for 24 hours. The service was wonderful but the food was just awful.

There is no excuse for charging the prices they charge for such mediocre food in restaurants with such limited menus. A restaurant with only 8-10 entrées averaging $20 a plate should taste better then OK, not bad or edible. The food should be tasty and well prepared otherwise, what's the point?

I dislike this quitter (game 5 Boston) as much as I dislike dining at ABC Commissary. :lmao:
Harsh man, real harsh, not that I disagree. Not so much for leaving as for making it a public spectacle. May Miami continue the path of mediocrity they've started out on.

After 9 visits, the only "horrible" thing we've ever had to eat at Disney was the pizza. Disney does so many things well... just NOT pizza. Resort pizza, park pizza, yuck.

However, the new Tutto Italia in Epcot was outstanding. We went during the soft opening this summer, and really enjoyed ourselves. It wasn't the best pizza I've ever had, but it was the best pizza I've ever had at Disney World.

And now that Disney has finally figured out how to make a decent pizza, I can't think of one thing that I don't love about Disney World!!!

Although the food wasn't 'horrible' just ordinary, the only place I have truly felt ripped off at WDW was Fulton's. One time we had 2 glasses of wine and hubby hac a shrimp cocktail I had some other appetizer - bill $75.00!! The worst was a manager having a meeting with servers in next room/space extorting the servers to UPSELL food/wine etc. Really didn't need that. Went there for dinner once - last time EVER! Rude arrogant service, so so food, super expensive. Bottom of our list now!
Citrico's the BEST - food, service etc. # 1..We also love Raglan Road and the Earl of Sandwich. Even thought T-Rex was decent. Most definitely there are restaurants due some 'work' with both food and staff. I guess it will always be that way.

For info of those reading and maybe looking to make a reservation - the pizza restaurant is Via Napoli, not Tutto Italia - that is a different restaurant, and they don't serve pizza.

Just came back from Disney. We have dined in Tutto Italia and was quite disappointed. We sat down ,ordered 4 meals and somehow the food was on our table in 4 minutes! Yes 4 minutes!!! The salmon was totally dry and tasteless as if it sat under hot lights waiting for someone to order it, and my son's veal came out like sliced roast beef instead of on the bone as described. Aside from that the waiters were pleasant and accomadating. And another bad dining was from Ohanas. If anyone wants to know this just message me !

I think it's all chalked up to taste. I love peppery steak-my husband hates it. We've gotten the same dish at a restaurant (not necessarily WDW-just an example) and I loved it, and he hated it-or vice versa. Saying that, I'm pretty easy to please for a picky eater. Last time in Disney I listed my ADRs for review and some people were like "EWWWW" at my Garden Grill ADR and I loved it! So whatever. To each their own. Like 'Ohana. I will probably never eat there because a-people keep raving about bread pudding and I hate bread pudding. I've had supposedly amazing bp, and I still didn't like it. B-None of the rest of the menu looks good either-so why waste time and money??

I hate bread pudding, also. But, I have to admit, we loved Ohana. I thought the chicken was overcooked, but everything else was good. Loved the shrimp. A lot of people feel rushed there, but we just told them we weren't ready if they brought out something while we were enjoying something else.

My opinion has always been it depends on people's tastes. If you think Olive Garden is the best place to go for a meal on a Sat night, and absolutely LOVE it, you'll have a different opinion than someone who despises Olive Garden's food... does that make sense? It's levels of cuisine taste and every single person is different. I never, EVER, make a judgement call based solely upon the opinions voiced here, though I do take them into consideration and really appreciate the comments and opinions given. But I experiment and that's part of the fun of Disney dining!

...I have to say, Crystal Palace, a perennial favorite, was disappointing this time around. The food was basic...

Have to agree with you here, leebee...last year we had our usual breakfast at CP (DH's favorite breakfast in past years). The Puffed French Toast was very different (and disappointing) and the Breakfast Lasagna (pancakes, berries and custard) was gone. Those were our two favorite items, so last week we skipped CP for the first time in 7 trips.

I really miss that lasagna...

For me, for it to be terrible, there has to be a Failure at play.

The terrible meals I've had in general [not disney]:

1) Waterbug in Lo Mein
2) Fly in a Fajita
3) Mystery Stick in Mushroom Burger
4) Cook getting confused that when we ordered Miso Soup we didn't want Miso Chowder. [To be honest, the only reason this went to that level was because of how the cook handled the complaint, when we were just happy to not enjoy the soup and move on with our meal].

Now, food not being worth the price, that happens a lot, but I wouldn't consider it terrible, just not worth it.

I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to food, and I always look forward to the restaurants at Disney. I've never been served a *terrible* or inedible meal in a TS restaurant. I did have a hideous sandwich at a CS though! Scared the life out of me. It was a vegetarian sandwich with a mushroom as its main ingredient, and since it was served right out of the fridge, the mushroom had the consistency of chilled earthworm. It's the only food I've ever sent back/taken back at Disney.

I wholeheartedly agree with a PP about the pre-cupped drinks at CS places though. We shouldn't have to ask for a fresh drink. When they line them all up on the counters, all that NASTY Florida ice melts into the soda and makes it taste horrible. If you get a fresh one, the Florida ice stink doesn't permeate the soda right way, and I can usually finish one. I say "ICK!" to the pre-poured sodas!

Otherwise, though, meals at WDW are some of the best times on our trips.

The only place I had "terrible" food was at the Commissary at Disney studios. I had the fish basket and the fish was mushy, like it had laid along side the road the put on a bun. The fries we as mushy as the fish. Some food is OK, but it's really rare when I find something spectacular. It's funny how someone mentioned "heightend" expectations. Whenever a server asks my DW how her meal is, its "WONDERFUL". I'm thinking to myself, it's wonderful because you're at Disney. If this same meal were somewhere else, it would be just ok.

Compared to some of the atrocious food I have had served to me elsewhere, I wouldn't call anything in WDW "terrible". The closest I can come to "bad" for us, I think, would be Garden Grill. We certainly won't go back, but mostly for the service and atmosphere. The food was mediocre to poor at best, but not "terrible".

Sounds like us. We like Garden Grill and don't like O'Hana. Who can make sense of it all!?!

I though Ohana was GROSS! Worst meal we had at Disney. Funny though, I liked H&V. I know I am a rare breed on DIS.

In all the trips my family has taken weve never HATED food.
There have been some things that were clearly better than others, but nothing was horrible.
We LOVE WDW food of all shapes and sizes, and will continue to eat at every restaurant! Nothing is off limits!
