Just got a discounted room for additional 20% off rate for DLH through Cheaptix (traveler20) which is actual 20% off the Disneyland spring/summer promo so we changed from the Courtyard Theme Park Entrance to DLH. I was initially planning on eating around Courtyard with the panera and a few other places now I'm trying to figure out restaurants off-site walking distance from DLH....if there are any. This will make a difference if we rent a car or not.

Or does anyone have recs for eating at DLH that isn't totally TS? I have a 6 & 2yo and we like to spend time touring/grab & go or at pool so quicker food is better, we just dislike "fast food" leaning more on places like panera or chipotle.

I would look into the Earl of Sandwich; it reminds me (to some degree) of Panera. The Jazz Kitchen Express in DTD is also pretty good, as is Tangaroa Terrace at the DLH. Otherwise, there really isn't that much to the west of DLH that's within walking distance (it's mostly residential areas).

Tangaroa Terrace is a good option right by the pool at DLH! Earl of Sandwich in DTD is super close and inexpensive. We like eating there for breakfast and lunch on days we go back to the hotel mid-day to rest. There are a lot of great QS restaurants in DTD, some of which are fairly inexpensive. The Taqueria at Tortilla Jo's, Jazz Kitchen Express, and La Brea Express all come to mind. I think all the places I mentioned are comparable to Panera in terms of cost. Earl of Sandwich is actually a bit cheaper, I think.

Thanks! I mind melded and totally blanked on DTD being RIGHT THERE.
Does anyone know if the DTD restaurants accept Disney GIft cards? I'm assuming all the eateries in the hotels and parks do.....

The restaurants at DtD are not owned by Disney so they do not take Disney GCs.

if you walk up Harbor to Katella.. and go left you will hit Bubba Gumps. Smick and McCormick and The Cheesecake Factory

You should be able to use Disney gift cards at the hotel eateries, e.g. Whitewater Snacks, Tangaroa Terrace, Hearthstone Lounge, etc.

There are lots of great quick service restaurants inside the parks, too. At DL, Bengal BBQ is one of my favorites and at DCA, I love Pacific Wharf Cafe and Paradise Garden Grill, but there are lots of options that aren't too fast-foody. Check out the menus on Allears.

Pacific wharf in cal adv has soup in bread bowls for about 10 dollars, they can feed 2 kids easily. My favorite is the Monte cristo at cafe orleans, its 4 half sandwiches but one is enough for most people. Its about 20 and easily can feed an adult and 2 kids. Ask for the vanilla sauce also, its delicious.

The real trick to disneyland is realizing that crummy food is usually about 10 a person and great food is around 15 but usually is so much bigger you can easily share it between 2 people.

LOL! I like the idea of having the kids share the soup. They allow you to ask for the soup on the side too, which would make it easier to share. I think the kids' meal choices at Disneyland are pretty awful for the most part. We bring food into the parks for them and often have them share our meals. One of our favorites is Rancho del Zocalo. The platters are large and make it easy for parents to share with kids, or two adults with smaller appetites could share.

The Rainforest café is fun for families, though not on the cheaper or faster side.

Zocalo is great, cocina Cucamonga in cal adv is fairly similar to it if you're over there. Flo's cafe has good ribs (nice and tender) and my vegetarian wife likes the veggie bake thing there too.

Outside the park, walking distance, most of the food is pretty boring and limited Mimis is good, that's about all I can think of

We've eaten at Cocina Cucamonga before. The food is very similar. I prefer the soup bowls if I'm at the Wharf. I like Rancho because of it's location too. It's a nice place to eat. Especially when it gets dark earlier and the lanterns are on.

They do not take Gift Cards but many DTD restaurants DO offer AP discounts.

Whitewater Snacks by the GCH pool is a great quick service place to drop in for a quick bite.

Pizza Press on Harbor is walking distance. Good pizza, made fresh to order, discounts offered (e.g. military, D23, AAA, etc.). Marri's Pizza on Katella delivers to the area hotels.
