Was looking at some of the increases just released, and for the character meals alone will cost us an extra $50 this trip not including the increased cost of tax and tip. And that’s just for the 3 character meals (Crystal palace, Tusker house, 1900 park fare), I haven’t seen the other increases yet. The character meals seem to be increasing between $3-5 per person per meal. CRT breakfast is now $74! For breakfast! Insane

Thank goodness we are only doing 2 TS this trip. My DH and DS want Sci-Fi so I booked that this morning. My DD wants Boma for Christmas morning, but that is a no go as there are no ressies available for this trip that morning. I guess it will have to be bagels and muffins from costco in the room. Oh well, maybe I'll save some money this way.

It would be boring because Disney will get people to pay that, at least for awhile. Once you've told your kid they're dining with princesses in the castle there is not way back on that...
Sure there is. If there is a less expensive princess meal, then the castle simply isn’t open and you take the kids where the princesses are. If there isn’t a less expensive option, and the parents can’t afford it, then the child may have to be disappointed. That is the way life is sometimes.

With all of the increases posted today alone, choices may have to be made to keep a vacation within budget. Most of the people on these boards are fortunate in that they can often absorb these increases, even if they don’t like them. People who have saved up for years for a once in a lifetime trip to Disney can’t easily pull a few hundred extra dollars out of thin air, no matter whether they told their kids they were eating in the castle or not.

@fla4fun - a lot of truth in what you wrote.

I’m going on a different kind of WDW trip this year. Implementing various types of cost cutting techniques that will save a nice percentage of money but could save more if I paid closer attention.
However I won’t because I don’t feel like putting that much effort into it and that’s a luxury in and of itself.

Once in a lifetime trippers are not going to skip on these meals because of a price increase. Let us not forget the survey from earlier this year that a quarter of people go into debt for a disney trip and 45% of parents with kids take on debt for their disney trip to the tune of around $2k with concessions being the main driver of it link

Us vets know you don't stick around long as a Disney vet if your trips are financed on debt, but those of us on budgets are also budget conscious enough to actually look at menu prices before a trip- and hopefully most anticipated an approx 5-10% food price increase. It will be interesting to see if anyone here changes plans due to the price changes.

@NYCgrrl, would you please send me a private message? I can't find the thread we were discussing Philadelphia in & I can't PM you.

Sorry to the OP of this thread for going OT. :flower3: I slapped my hand for you.
