Trying to figure out how much cash to bring - would we be able to use a credit card at a snack place/ice cream cart, for example? Thanks~

I can't remember if they take cc but I suspect they do. An easier option (if you're staying on site) would be to put a cc on record so you can charge things to your room with your KTTW card - I know they take those.

Although beware there are a few carts - seems like mainly drink type ones that don't take the dining plan as any form of snack I don't think they can swipe cards at all but I know most if not all of the ice cream carts can / do :cool1:

This is what we do as well, put a credit card on file for our room.
There are room charging limits based on resort type: $500 for Value resorts, $1000 for Moderate resorts and $1500 for Deluxe resorts.
Your card is not actually charged until you reach that limit or upon checkout. We then only carry our KTTW card.
Have Fun

Yes they do take credit cards...most machines have the cc swipe on the side of the screen. It is actually a lot easier and less time consuming then using cash. I think they use the under $25 rule, where you don't have to sign the receipt if it is under $25.
As mentioned, it is even easier to track if you put it on your KTTW card. You can check your activity every evening or the following day at your resort if you are concerned about overspending or just tracking the purchases.

I always carry a little cash on me. There have been a couple of times where the cart I wanted to make a purchse at was having problems, and they could only so cash sales. I don't carry much, but I keep some on hand.

Thank you. We don't want to use the KTTW this trip because we are staying in a 2BR villa with my DH's brother and wife and don't want the hassle of trying to figure out whose charge is whose at the end of the week. On our last trip with our in-laws, at check-in we were told we could put our seperate credit cards on our different KTTW cards...unfortunately on check-out day all the charges wound up on my mother-in-law's Visa. We just guessed and gave her a lump sum.

As far a figuring whose charge is whose, as long as each person uses their own KTTW card for their own purchases it's actually easy. Each KTTW is numbered #01, #02 #03 and so on for the room and it's indicated on the room charges printout, IIRC as the last digits on the KTTW cards. Just add the charges for each KTTW card number. I don't know if the front desk can separate them on individual printouts though, but they can tie different credit cards to individual numbers now.

What about Disney Gift cards? Our plan is to buy them up over the next 8 months before our trip so it is like pre-paid dining. Are they accepted everywhere? We will have some cash but the gift cards were my main plan.

This is exactly what we have always done! Pretty much everywhere takes them.

Me too! This is exactly what we are going to do this time. This is our first year without the DDP, so i've already started buying gift cards to use instead. But i assumed i'd have to carry them around with me to present at the restaurants. If i could have them put onto my KKTW card instead, that would be even more convenient. Anybody know if this can be done this way?

I go to WDW several times a year and this is what we've done the last several years. At first I just wanted everything paid for prior to the trip, so would get the DDP, then use gift cards for the tips and any souvineers we might find. For my trip this past Sept and then again in Nov/Dec, instead of the DDP, I used the TiW card and just paid cash for all my meals. I figured what I'd probably spend, then added a little to it and then used the gift cards to pay for everything while I was down there (snacks, meals, gratuities, and any souvineers). Both times I had money left over on the gift cards to use for my next trip. I loved coming home with extra money and a zero balance on my cc.:rotfl:

For our trip in two weeks I'm doing the same thing, except we're using the DxDDP. I've got a couple of $300.00 gift cards to use for restaurant tips. I then have another $300.00 gift card to use for my 3 y/o grandson's souvineers. My husband needs another AP, so I also have a $500.00 and a $50.00 gift card and then will pay less than $10.00 cash to get his AP for the year. I seriously doubt if my GS spends $300.00 and I also know we won't be spending near $600.00 on restaurant gratuities, so hope to have enough left over on the gift cards to pay for the tips for my solo May trip.

Gift cards are accepted just about anywhere. In fact, the only places I've not been able to use them is when I ate at House of Blues this past Sept and then in Dec when I ate at the Garden Grove at the Swan/Dolphin. That's because they aren't Disney owned and I knew that going in. Otherwise I haven't really spent any cash at WDW in a couple of years. (I do leave prefilled cash envelopes for the housekeeper and have envelopes with small bills in them for DME drivers, the BAGS people, and bell services.) For everything else, I've used the gift cards.
