Hi hi,
Just wondering if anybody knows reasonably priced places to eat walking distance from the park? Our next trip will be on a tight budget food-wise. So I'm curious to get some suggestions.
Also any good deliveries? We'll be in a studio so we could order pizza or chinese and be able to eat it for at least 2 meals would be great.

I've been to Mimi's a couple times and loved it but that's about the only place outside of the parks/dtd area I've been to. Well, if you count McDonalds right beside it then 2 places .... :lmao:

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. As much as I would love to eat in the parks or DTD all the time I think we would be out of food money within 3 days... :rotfl:

Thanks for your help!

Well, according to HOJO there is a Round Table Pizza that delivers to the area. We think they're pretty good.

We've found several meals in the park that were big enough to split.

There's a Quizno's and a Subway not far too I believe.

You've also got the option of grocery delivery through Von's.

I'll keep the RTP info.
And yes, we are definitely going to do Vons for at least water and other basic stuff (milk, baby food, cereal, bread, etc.). I kinda run out of ideas on dinner stuff though. In a studio making dinner in a microwave doesn't sound too appealing to me. But I am planning to get a couple microwaveable meals too just to save a bit of $.

This isn't really walking distance, but we have found that Buca di Beppo (which is in the parking lot of the Garden Grove Embassy Suites) has HUGE portions (served family style). You could easily order one entree and it would feed you for lots of meals. If you sign up online for their e-club they send out coupons for $10 off quite often.

We've eaten at the Denny's on Harbor a few times. There's also an Ihop but we've never been there.

There's a Coco's on Katella. And also Tiffy's is on Katella.

I haven't been to the Garden Walk but there are probably places to eat there too.

As far as in the parks, we've found the cheapest breakfast was at Tomorrowland Terrace. Here's their full menu with prices - http://allears.net/dlr/din/menu/men_buzb.htm

This is what I like to order....it's a great deal especially since it comes with a drink. (I always get hot chocolate.)

Sunrise Breakfast - Scrambled eggs with choice of bacon or sausage, served with breakfast potatoes, muffin and choice of beverage $6.99

For lunch/dinner I think the Pizza Port is decently priced since the portions of pasta are really big.

I've heard about Buca but with DD still being so small I don't think we would venture out that far.

Thanks for the info on Tomorrowland Terrace and Pizza port, I'll make sure to check them out. :thumbsup2

Share, share, share! DH and I share a ton of meals at DLR. We hate feeling stuffed and then trying to ride rides right after eating. We will order an entree somewhere and then get a house salad to go with it and it's perfect for 2 people. It saves us on our food budget.

We eat breakfast in our room. Yogurt, cereal, breakfast sandwiches, hot chocolate, milk, orange juice.

We also bring in lunches - sandwiches, carrot sticks, celery sticks, apple slices (that I slice myself), chips and water bottles. We bring a few snacks, but when we bring in our own lunches we aren't usually very hungry for snacks and we end up snacking on the carrots and celery a lot. This way I know our kids are getting healthy food and don't mind the cheeseburgers or chicken nuggets once a day.

For our family of 5 usual travelers (DS 21 hasn't been in the parks since Mar. 08) we plan about $60 a day for food. We end up using less than that since we share, but that gives us a figure to shoot for. Then if someone wants a DL snacky thing we can spring for it. When we go in Nov. I will probably raise our food budget to $75 a day since our oldest will be with us, also, but probably won't go higher than that. We just figure $15 a person for an entree per day (for adults) and $8 a day for the kids. But, like I said, we usually don't spend that last $15 and if the entrees are less we've saved that money, too.

We've ordered pizza to our room before, but never tried any of the Chinese food around the area. That can save some money and provide leftovers, too.

Togo's (which has huge yummy sandwiches) delivers.

ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney is really well priced and has huge portions.

Will you have a car? If so, go to the store and get basics. If not, if you will spend $50 get Vons delivery. Bread, PB, jelly and bring your own stuff in.

I agree with the other suggestions of sharing meals and bringing your own food. It really helps if you are on a tight budget.

The Cheesecake factory is over at Garden walk, and they have huge portions, you can even order to-go meals. Split things there and you could get a good price.

Ok so you like Mimi's, that's good a the portions are huge. Millie's is similar, not quite as "fancy" but still very good, just standard "American" fare. We did bfast there a few times on our way to the parks from the HoJo. Prices are good there too. Denny's is good, just your standard Denny's fare but the service has always been great for us and the prices are standard Denny's prices and not inflated. IHOP, avoid them, super slow service and over-priced. This IHOP charges more then other IHOP's do. Captain Kidd's, absolutely disgusting.....do not eat there...Please please do not eat there.....also on Harbor is a McD's, standard food but not the standard dollar menu, still OK if you like McD's, we eat there occasionally but not often because I don't like McD's. Farther down Harbor you've got Bucca Di Bepo which is very good, you've also got the Anaheim GardenWalk which has tons of restaurants that are very very good and very sharable portions. :) We love Bubba Gump, Cheesecake Factory, CA Pizza Kitchen (try the BBQ chicken pizza, YUM!) & PF Chang's. I do believe there is a shuttle from the park to the GW but we drive so I don't know for sure. Farther down Harbor (you would need a car or to take a taxi) there is a Joe's Crab Shack, Red Robin, Outback and another restaurant that we haven't tried. :) In DTD there are tons of choices, we did not like ESPN Zone at all....we thought it was way overpriced for the food quality. It was good but not that good, we just didn't enjoy it much. We do enjoy RFC and DBF and I share the Maya Combo, it's plenty of food, especially if you have an appetizer (we are Safari Club members so we get a free appetizer) as well. Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, again shareable sizes, very good food. We also liked the pizza we got at Napoli and the La Brea Bakery has some good choices well priced as well.

Hopefully that will give you some ideas. :)

Thanks everyone!
I'm keeping a list of these places you mentioned.
I'm sure DH and I will split some meals but we have different tastes so sometimes it doesn't work :)
Thanks all for taking time to help!

Coming this fall on ABC radio...... Pixie's Restaurant Picks ......;) :)

(I like foodie reports like yours :) )

Foodie budget.... I find that if I only eat when I am hungry I save quite a bit on food. Now that is not to say that if I have a taste for something that I won't buy it, because I will. :)
Fruit that Disneyland sells, it normally tastes very good. And I love Bengal B Q... very tasty and in my honest opinion.... reasonable in price as well. It makes for a good light nosh, or a complete meal as well.
Target (Closest one to the park is in Garden Grove) groceries that one can purchase for a good price. I especially like their trail mixes.
There are coupons as well from AOC's tourist website and of course from the Entertainment Book as well.

Ooooh... Thanks Gisele!
I'll definitely print some of them out for our trip ... :thumbsup2
I should hop over to the coupon thread again and see what else they have...
Thanks a bunches for the reminder!
