Hi,

I'm not sure if I should be posting this here or on the Restaurant board, but I'm going to go with here. We are going to WDW in Oct of 2010. It will be me, my DH, my mom, my step-dad, and my two sons who will be almost 3 (32 months) and 17 months.

My question is what do I do about food for my kids? We will be on the Deluxe Dining plan. We chose that on purpose because we like to have character breakfasts and sit down dinners, and we also like to go places that require two TS credits. We will probably do counter service for lunch most days though because 3 sit down meals is too much. I can't get the DDP for my kids because they won't be 3 years old yet, but what do I do about food for them? I don't want to have to carry whole meals with me. I'll bring snacks and stuff and maybe some stuff for my youngest depending on what he is eating by then, but I think he should be off baby food. I believe kids under 3 are supposed to be totally free, even food right? And I have seen waiters bring small portions of speggetti or something to families with little kids, and I don't believe they got charged. But what about at counter service places? Am I going to have to buy them kids meals? Or is there a way to have them on the DDP? How does this work? TIA and sorry this was so long.

I think they are free if they eat off your plate. At the CS if you order for them, then you would pay for it.

This site has a good explaination:http://allears.net/din/dining.htm

That's correct. Buffets, they can eat for free. But anything you order for them you will have to pay for. That could include beverages.

Yep, places that are family style or buffet style, our children under 3 eat free. Places that we have to order them a meal (Akershus, for example), we either order a child's dish for them and pay for it or we let them eat off of our plate. The only way children under 3 eat free is if they eat off of your plate or you are in a buffet or family style place.

Thanks everyone. I guess we will have to see how much they are eating by then and budget accordingly. We do plan on doing a lot of buffet/family style meals though, so that will be good. Thanks again.
