DD has been to Disney a couple of times already, but she was either just ebf or she was eating purees. Well, now she is eating real food ;). She can be a little bit picky when it comes to certain foods. Do you think I should plan on having some of her own food with us? Or do they have decent options for a 1 year old with 5 teeth? :) I've never really checked out the kids menu before.
Also - do they serve whole or 2% milk?

Food. Who'd have thought it'd be such a hassle!

Have you checked allears.net? They have sample menus from almost, if not all, of the restaurants in the world.

Buffets may be your best bet.

When we traveled with mine at that age I never ordered a kids meal, I just would order something for my self that I could share. Possibly order an extra side of vegetables or something but they pretty much just ate what I did. It won't be any trouble finding things at Disney for them to eat!

Don't know about the milk but I wouldn't stress about it either which way it is only for a short bit of time so it won't matter.

I completly agree with this. About the milk not all pedis recommend whole milk now so a week of 1 or 2% milk will be ok.

I wouldn't worry about the food choices too much. Most of the restaurants have some type of noodle/pasta/mac and cheese on their children's menu for lunch and dinner as well as chicken nuggets/fingers. My one year old LOVES her pasta and will eat nuggets, chicken, hot dogs and burgers too. So as far as main entrees that ought to cover it! Disney also seems to have a wide variety of fruits available so that ought to be okay and most of the kids meals come with some type of veggie too. For breakfast she loves waffles, pancakes, yogurt, cereal, and fruit (hates eggs though) so those would all be choices readily available there. I'd probably also take along or have Garden Grocer's deliver some goldfish and Nutrigrain bars for breakfast and snack time.

If I had to place a bet, I would guess the milk was 2% but like other posters have said I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The children's choices at WDW are very crappy - hotdogs, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, all nasty in bad fats and low in nutrional value. Do they offer any whole grain breads, etc?

If you check out the menus on www.allearsnet.com you can search the menus of the quick service locations and find those that have healthier options for kids meals. Thankfully the kids meals have healthy side options of carrot sticks and grapes and apples now so that you aren't stuck with FF. I'll be traveling down in a couple weeks with my DD who will be 15 months and has 6 or 7 teeth. Even though she doesn't have a full mouth of teeth, she does very well eating and chewing with her teeth and gums so I have no worries on her having food options. I'll probably be sharing my meals with her as I find they give you too much food anyway. I'll also be bringing some small cans of spaghetti o's and mac and cheese with me. I figure this way if my DD5 and I are hungry and DD1 isn't or vise versa then she can still get something quick to eat that won't cost me $6 considering she'd only be able to eat a small portion of it anyway.

I would try to mostly feed her off your plate. You will have plenty to share and can make better choices for her. Tiny pieces of your grilled chicken, steamed veggies, some pasta, etc. There is fruit as a side most CS places that you can cut into tiny pieces for her. Buffets are great too. I would carry a few things such as gerber graduate veggies or fruits for a pinch but you should be fine. Only caution is to not add a bunch of new foods or a bunch of junk if she is not use to eating that way. A taste of your ice cream is great but fries every day is not. Too many new things can lead to an upset tummy.

Just give her the highest fat content milk they have and she will be fine.

I'd bring some basics for her just in case or order from Garden Grocer.

My kids at that age like peaches, oatmeal, apple sauce, those little hot dog things that were so gross that you could buy in the kids food area in the jars, and BBQ are what I remember.

All of that was easy to carry when we took trips too. I'd save the baby food jars and put the BBQ in them so they could be poured into a bowl and reheated easily. Strange and probably not what alot of people would do but it worked and nobody got sick.

Some options I can think of at CS places for a 1 year old:
apple sauce
mac n cheese
pasta (POP food court has on kids menu)
soup (chicken noodle at Cosmic Ray's)
jello
muffins (Main St bakery)
scrambled eggs
PB&J (if you give peanut butter by now)
small pieces of turkey or ham from your own sandwich
most food courts have bananas

TONS of things on a buffet - fruits, soups, mashed potatoes

When my kids were that age - I did bring a couple 'just in case' things like Dole Fruit cups, but didn't end up needing them much. But if you throw a few in your luggage and then in your backpack for the park - it might make you feel better overall, but I'm sure your 1 year old won't starve! :)
