Just a note about those heavenly macaroons. . . they're a seasonal thing and not made every day. I fell in love with them my first trip to DLR and on a following trip could not find them. I pleaded my case to the head baker at the Blue Ribbon Bakery (who I am now on a first name basis with) and he has made me a batch of my own personal macaroons on several trips.

I usually order a dozen to take home and share with friends, but I have to say sitting on the curb of Main Street USA, and biting into a fresh, hot macaroon drizzled with chocolate is just about as close to Disney Heaven as I can imagine. :cloud9:

PS/ Congratulations on your post count, Hound! See, you're just as chatty as me!! :chat:

DangerMouse :rotfl: ....knowing the baker on a "first name basis"....love it!

& thanks for the "congrats" .....I changed my avatar for the occasion. Evil-doers (such as "line cutters", "slow walkers" & people who don't laugh at Jungleland Cruise Skipper's jokes) beware.

Love the Carnation Cafe in MK on main st........I always have the baked potato soup w/half a turkey sandwich on pretzel bread......its very yummy and is a nice change from greasy fast food I think its under $10.00 and you get table service too.

Have a great time!

After reading your post I decided to try the half turkey on pretzel bread and baked potato soup this past weekend. Carnation was out of the soup, so I had mixed greens with the raspberry vinegarette (sp?) dressing. The dressing was delicious- the best raspberry dressing I've ever had! The turkey sandwich was yummy and refreshing on a scorching hot day! Thanks for the tip.

We ate at a few counter service restaurants, and a few sit down places, but my overall favorite was the Carnation Cafe. DH had a beef stroganoff pot pie from Carnation and that was his favorite meal as well.

Well........... I'm just going to have a talk with that baker man too, if there aren't any of those heavenly macaroons on my next visit. :rolleyes1

ONLY 10 MORE DAYS (till the cruise part)!!!!!!!! OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!!

Thanks,
Linda

Yes, anyone can eat there. (& I'm sure you know you can access GCH from the special entrance from DCA.....if not.....You Can :) )

Be sure and pick up a FP from Griz (a few steps away) before eating.

Have a great trip. :thumbsup2

Tsk, tsk! It took until page 2 before anyone mentioned the Dole Whip? :sad2:

The first time I bought one (no one else wanted anything), I wound up having to share it with the kids. Now I buy two; one for me, and one for the boys to fight over. Ahhhhhhhh, it's heavenly! :cloud9:

I will second the Carnation Cafe, the food is great! It was the first place we ate at in the park, and one of our favorites. I'll also second (or is it 3rd?) the fried chicken at the Plaza Inn. WOW, is it ever good! :cheer2:

I'm surprised to see all the praise of the Hungry Bear; thought I'd read last year that it wasn't very good at all, so we avoided it. Might have to check it out now, even if just for the view! Thanks, Jemilah! :thumbsup2

In DCA, I loved the ribs and onion rings at Test Pilot's Grill. The rings were gigantic, and real slices of onion, yum! I guess that was the only place there that we ate... :confused3

Thanks Mel. :goodvibes

& I'm gonna retire my Tarkus Armadillo (looks like it should have been in Star Wars "Empire Strikes Back") avatar.

I didn't scare anyone. :sad1: (not even "slow walkers" :rotfl: )

Yes. (& I'm sure you know you can access GCH from the special entrance from DCA.....if not.....You Can :) )
I'm not sure how strict the CMs are about this, but the GCH entrance to DCA is restricted to DLR hotel guests until noon, I believe it is. After that, anyone can use it. (We used it a few times during our stay, and they always checked.)

I'm pretty sure anyone can use it to leave the park at any time, though.

If you are eating at WWS (or any GCH restaurant, for that matter), you can show your receipt at the GCH entrance to DCA and get in at any time of day, no problem.

I think you didn't scare anyone, cuz it was hard to tell what it was!!!!!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

So...................................are you Mulan's hunk now????????????? :confused3

Mel :rolleyes1

The monte cristo in either BB or Cafe Orleans.

I'd heard SO MUCH about the Monte Cristo being the best thing since sliced bread :teeth: so I got it when we went to BB.....

UGH. I did not like it at all! The rest of the food was great though.

Kimya

I think the 3 cheese monte cristo is to dye for ,............the one with ham , I don't like. You need to really be into cheese for the 3 cheese brie is very strong tasting.

Besides being (imo) one of Disney's most underated movies, I like what Mulan preaches/teaches. Good over evil. Respect for elders. Women who are strong. Men who are strong. etc. (Eddie Murphey is a riot, too.)

Also, DS 8 is Korean, so we acknowledge/celebrate Asian culture when it makes sense. He was looking over my shoulder the other day, so i put Shang in as my avatar. :smooth:

(so tinkermell thinks Li Shang is hunky, huh?)

One of my favorite subjects, Disney Food!
I can't believe nobody mentioned the carmel apples. I love the ones dipped in milk chocolate. Since it's technically fruit, you can totally eat it for breakfast!
We also love the corn dogs on Main Street, and the chili chees fries and fish and chips in the Golden Horseshoe--you can't miss a chance to have a little lunch with the Billys!

Except if you laugh so hard your soda and chili cheese fries come out your nose! Snort! (Yep, actually happened). :rotfl2:

God bless the Billies!
