food courts for DVC?

I agree that OKW needs some improvement in the CS area. I don't want to sit outside with birds and bugs and the heat.

I really like AP at SSR and while many do not like the selections we really do. We find the food fresh, different from the usual burger fare and love the seating area. It is so nice and bright and open and love sitting near the window overlooking the main pool.

It IS proven because I've experienced it first hand. That is enough proof for me.

...
I don't need facts or proof to state my feelings and my direct observations. It is one mans opinion, discount it if you wish. ...

Then why not just say it's your personal opinion rather than try to pass it off as something "proven" ? Is your personal opinion more "proven" than that of others?

Your personal opinion does NOT "prove" anything, it is just your personal opinion. If you have a survey, test or theorem which can be "proven" then please use that term - otherwise why not simply state that it's your opinion and then follow up with the reasons for that opinion.

If you want to call something "proven" it better have some facts to back it up. If you want to state your "feelings" then just say they are your "feelings". If it's just your opinion, then feel free to identify the comment as your own opinion rather than something "proven"

This was not something "proven" at all - just your own opinion which differs from that of many others.

Fair enough Doc and enough said about it on my part.

Lets get back to the topic at hand. Seems the OP is leaning towards SSR.

Its kind of a walk but Swan & Dolphin has a pretty good food court if you are in a bind at BWV sometime-unless its changed lately.

One of things that my wife and I were most excited about when we visited SSR this past December was the location. We really do like the food courts too, especially the one at Pop Century. But, walking distance to DTD was a HUGE factor for us. Before we met with the guide at SSR we were planning on holding out for AKV or possibly a Boardwalk or BCV resale. From reading many of the posts, we didn't even consider SSR. Ideally we would love to be within walking distance to Epcot (our fav park). After seeing that we were within a short walk to DTD with all of the entertainment and food options, as well as the direct bus system to all parks AND resorts, it was a no brainer, for as at least. :thumbsup2 We LOOOVE the theme parks, especially Epcot, but for those weekend getaways we didn't want to have to pay admission into a park to get more dining options. That being said, it still would be nice to have a food court or more CS options on site. :)

I do admit to missing the food court at CBR (not enough to sell my DVC membership, but I miss it). I don't miss the one at ASMo-- because it was too crazy and crowded, but I always loved OPR at CBR-- my kids will definitely miss having Mickey Waffles every morning.

I miss all the different choices the food court offers pre dvc we would stop in at least twice a day to either eat or just refill our mugs. OKW food choices are lacking especially later in the evening!

We're food courters too! When our older dd turned 5 we started being willing to gamble that we could all enjoy a table service meal, without a meltdown. Lo and behold, her younger sister joined us 2 years later. So we're back to loving food courts!

We're OKW members, so we often go over to Port Orleans food court for supper. We loved the Pepper Market at CSR. DH had a work conference at that resort, and we got really spoiled.

We're not foodies, unfortunately, so fine dining is completely wasted on us. I would love to see Good's to Go evolve into a sub shop. Someplace where we could get freshly made sandwiches, salads, etc.

As someone who worked in restaurants all through high school and college, the way the food establishments are set up at WDW drives me nuts in general. Typically the food prep area is small, and the order/pay area is also small and inefficent. Adds up to revenue that is completely lost. I'd love to go in and revamp their food service.

Do you drive over to Port Orleans from OKW? or just take the bus back there from a park? We knew it was close but we never have a car! Yes the finer foods are wasted on us also!

I have never ever cooked whilst at Disney, they could rip the Kitchen out for all I care, in fact I would personally prefere the room to be without the kitchen so the was more floor space to throw my clothes and other stuff onto. I wouldnt dream of eating anything more than a takeout meal in the room or room service for a treat and it would never enter my head and definently not my DWs to cook anything whilst at Disney or at any other place we may go throughout the year. That is what going away is about for me and if I couldnt do this and had to spend time cooking I dont think I personally would bother. For me the DDP is a godsend for less than $1400 my DW and I can eat every meal out on our next trip of 18 days. At least I know now how much we are spending on food, on all our other trips I woudnt have had a clue but I do know we dont buy a great deal else but I always had a much bigger credit card bill to look forward to than this at the end of it.

I wrote earlier that I would love to come back from the parks late and be able to get a cold or hot drink, food or dessert. Someone suggested that I could find that in my refrigerater. That is true but its was always special for our boys to go to the food court and get exactly what they wanted. Now that we are at DVC we love having the big refrig but for other reasons. We always seem to bring leftovers from the restaurants, we have lots of water,
and maybe some fruit and milk. I think if we could get cases of water we could get whatever we need at the general store. But just think of how nice to add a food court into the mix. If someone wanted to come back from the parks by themselves you don't have to worry about them getting something to eat. Just think of how many times your little ones just can't go on any more so you take them back to the resort and wouldn't it be nice to have the option of a food court. Understand I am very happy with what we have but once asked the question, yes I would love a food court. I think the WDW or DVC could make money off of just about anything. I know I never come home with any money.

DVCdad, we drive over. We have a car since we drive down to WDW anyway. As the crow flies, you could walk there. Many years ago, I used to jog out the front of OKW, take a right and right before a little bridge, if you look to your left is POR. At that time, there was a pathway that led right to the interior of the resort. I checked a couple of years ago, and the pathway was overgrown. It's too bad there aren't sidewalks. POR isn't that far, but anyone with a stroller, and a love for their life needs a sidewalk.

Yes they would make money off a food court but probably less than at their present offerings. Theres a good reason that the delux resorts have smart restraunts rather than food courts. On average a person staying at a delux resort will have more spending money than someone staying at a budget resort, so all Disney are doing is parting them with some of this extra money. If a similar priced restraunt to Victoria and Alberts was built at Pop it probably wouldnt be very well used given that a meal in there is more than a price of a room in the resort, so all Disney are doing is making available offerings as high up the ladder as the typical guest of each resort can typically afford.
