How is the food? I am really looking forward to their Key Lime Pie but need to know how the main food is????

My family likes it, I've seen others say they don't. You really have to judge for yourself, I think.

But I definitely wouldn't choose it for the Key Lime Pie - I've yet to have a good dessert at any Disney counter service restaurant! Even my kids turn their noses up at the CS desserts!

We always enjoy the food there and they give you a TON~ so we usually end up sharing a few meals between me and DH and the kids. Good BBQ and I love sitting by the lake and watching the birds and everything Disney. :thumbsup2

We liked the chicken, the ribs were a little tough and dry. The key lime pie was really really good...

I agree that the ribs were a little tough and dry, but they were no worse than Fridays or Chili’s. I expected better in the south. You do need to add a lot of BBS sauce.

I really liked the beans, but I was not happy with the Key Lime pie myself.

This is the best option for a CS in AK IMO

I like both the ribs and the chicken, not a fan of the pulled pork sandwich

i do get extra barbeque sause though for dipping

This is usually a must do for us also, our favorite counter service at AK

This is a great place to share a meal. There are PLENTY of ribs on the platter and I actually like their beans. Being from TX, I'm kind of partial to good BBQ, but they're actually really good, considering it's a theme park. And yes, the little reflection pool is a great area to relax for a while before the long walks around the park.

Pictures of their Key Lime Pie looks like traditional Key Lime Pie and DH and myself are addicted to this pie. Also, I have had great CS desserts at POR, Boardwalk Bakery, etc.

Hmm... maybe I'll have to try it next time (and I agree on those other locations you mentioned, just not in the theme parks normally unless it's a Mickey Bar or chocolate chip ice cream sandwich!). :goodvibes

We love Flame Tree BBQ, prob our favorite of all the CS's at WDW, but it seems like the quality has gone down slightly the past few years. The ribs are our favorite and, while still very good and tender, the meat used to fall off the bone and now we have to bite it off. We are also big fans of the onion rings and my wife loves the key lime pie. As others have said it has the best seating area with a great view of EE.

I think it's the best out of all the CS options in AK. They have a fruit plate that looks really good, so I think on our upcoming trip, I'll get that and share a little bit of main course food off of my husband's plate. I don't think their food is awesome, but it's pretty good, and adding bbq sauce from the condiment station really does make it better.

I love it. Its one of the places that I have to hit every trip. It looks like there is very little seating when you walk by, but there is a ton of seats if you keep going further down the terraced seating area all the way to the water. As long as you don't mind ducks walking around, its a great place.

This is the only CS restaurant in any of the parks that I make a point of going to. The pulled pork sandwich is excellent and I really liked the baked beans.

No offense intended. But most people from the south do not consider Florida "southern". Therefore expecting good southern food in Florida (including WDW) is prob having too high of expectations.
That being said. I've never eaten there but plan to in March.

We ate at Flame Tree a couple of times during our trip last August. Overall we really liked the chicken and the pulled pork sandwich was tasty. It's not as good as good as the barbecue that I had when I lived in Texas, but for "Disney" barbecue it was pretty good.

Also, I would recommend the chocolate cake. The cake itself is tiny, but very tasty. :thumbsup2

I thought the pulled pork sandwich was good (as far as theme park food goes) The key lime pie was good and rich if I remember correctly. I ordered onion rings and paid for them separately off the dining plan (hungry day, I guess). Not only is it a great CS option in AK but it is peaceful. Ordering is a little chaotic but once you are served you just keep walking all the way to the back and you will end up in a very quiet area that is nicely shaded and overlooks the water and everest. Great quiet place to relax. When we went during prime lunch time it was only us and one other family.

I agree with the CS desserts not being all that fantastic but I remember this one being slightly better. I quickly learned that every TS restaurant we went to had key lime pie so it is very easy to get. It is florida, afterall.

I agree that the food is very good here. I always get the salad with the smoked chicken added. My husband loves the pulled pork sandwich.

What we really love is the beautiful setting behind the restaurant down by the water. It is very relaxing - sort of an oasis in the middle of a busy park!

We love flame tree. It is one of our favorite CS locations & a great change from burgers and nuggets. I love the ribs and beans, the wife likes the pulled pork sandwich. They also serve the pulled pork sandwich at Cosmic Rays in the MK.
