Who's going to food and wine?

What is your favorite promenade?

I was thinking about trying out one of the pay-for experiences this year in stead of doing the entire promenade. I want to say it was festival for the senses last year and was held in the old millennium village space.

Has anyone ever done one of these? Or can anyone recommend a pay-for experience that they have done and would do again?

I highly recommend Party for the Senses ( yes, in the former Millenium Village building). Great food and drink choices with entertainment. We've enjoyed quite a few F&W paid events over the years, but PFTS is one of our favorites.

Do you remember any details? Price, Food, Length? Time of day?

Thanks for the input.

We did another paid event a few years ago - Taste of Louisiana or something like that. We weren't impressed. The food was all very good, but we just didn't enjoy the setup at all. DH and I felt like we were at someone's wedding where we didn't know anyone - LOL! We didn't like the limited amount of seating and just thought it was pretty boring. So we wouldn't do that again. I was considering the Dessert thing this year, but we will probably skip it.

We have been to 4/5 PFTS, and this year we are going to skip it. On our last visit, we thought the quality of the food had really declined. We did a French Regional Lunch, and really loved that, so are going to repeat that experience instead. YMMV, many still rave about PFTS.

The PFTS is every Saturday night throughout the F&W Festival. It's from 6:30 - 9:00. Last year's cost was $135 + tax. You can purchase a VIP package which I believe is another ~$90, which provides access to a lounge with reserved seating (we've never done this). Otherwise, there is not enough seating for everyone in attendance (supposed to be a festive, interactive environment, I guess:)). There are tables with chairs and high (bar-type) tables available for standing - there is just a bit of a mad rush for people to "claim" them. Many people stay at a table all night, but others roam from place to place throughout the event, so finding a place to put down your plate and glass is not impossible.

One advantage to PFTS over other paid events that we've been to is the number and variety of choices and the ability to go back for 2nds, 3rds, 4ths, etc of your favorites. (the food portions are small, so repeat servings are not really gluttonous)

Every week is a different menu, and has different guest chefs, wineries, etc. It's fun to be able to talk to so many knowledgable folks. I don't have any of my PFTS programs scanned, but after a quick search I did find this menu from 2009 to give you an idea of the offerings:

I really think that it's an event to try at least once. Have fun if you do!

We go down ever year for FWF and last year we talked to someone that did that PFTS and they said it was great. We are going down this year and we will be going on a Saturday(following day getting on the Dream) and we were talking about trying it out. Thanks for all the information. Sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm on the fence about a paid event. But I will definitely be there the first week in Oct. Staying at BWV for the first time and cannot WAIT. :goodvibes

We're also going down on the first weekend-DH is running the half-marathon. I saw something about an event (don't remember the name) on the September 29th that looked interesting. However, we've never done any events in the past, just "grazed".
