Hello!
I'm in the process of planning my Nov. all adult, WDW trip. We have been to WDW many times but have never been during F&W. I need some hints, strategies, and just good ideas for our trip. We are staying on site and my hub and I will be there for 7 days. My sister and her spouse will join us for 4 days SO HAPPY!!!!
Thanks!!!

msk, you are going to have a blast! My sister, sister-in-law, niece (of legal drinking age) and I went for our first F&W trip last November, and it was awesome. Here are my recommendations based on our experience:

- Try to avoid the weekends, or if you can't, hit up the F&W booths early in the day. It gets crazy in the evenings.
- We put money on a gift card wristband and it saved so much time - no digging for money, no "whose Magic Band are we using for this one" discussions... We all put money on the card and used it solely for the food booths. It worked out great.
- Get the little passport book so you can mark off what you tried and any wine or beer you really liked; I've looked at mine several times at home and bought the stuff we liked for home consumption. :-)
- Pace yourselves on both the drinks and the food - it's a lot, so I recommend getting park hoppers so you can visit several times. We split it up in three visits but we probably could have even done 4.
- We skipped booths each visit (i.e. went to every third booth around the World Showcase), which helped us pace ourselves and not get to full or too tipsy too quickly. :-)
- We split everything we tried four ways, except for the Kahlua Pork Slider and a couple of the desserts that we split two ways. The portions are small, but not as small as you would think! If you want to taste lots of different things, this is the best thing to do - it gives everyone a taste and you save money if you don't really like something (although we liked pretty much everything!). If someone really likes something, they can always go back and get their very own. You could also split just between couples if splitting 4 ways bothers anyone.
- Beer and cider flights come with four different tastings, so they are great to split four ways, and it's cheaper than buying four separate tastings.
- Have two people look for a table or place to sit/stand and two people go to the booths to get the food and drinks. We put one person in line to order while the other grabbed utensils and napkins, and then met up at the booth again to grab the food and drinks.
- The craft beer building is a nice spot to get out of the sun for a while, and there are bathrooms there, too.
- Unless you really love the "Eat to the Beat" band, don't bother with preferred seating or anything like that... you can hear just fine outside of the theater near the booths.
- Another nice place to cool off is the Festival Center, and they have food and drinks there. When we wanted to purchase wine to take back to the room and some souvenir merchandise, we went there at the very end of the evening on our way back to the buses, and then we didn't have to carry anything around with us.
- If you have a Chase Visa card (doesn't have to be Disney), go upstairs to the Chase lounge in the American Adventure Pavilion. They have nice bathrooms, wine and beer for purchase, free Coke Freestyle machines, and charging stations for your phones, plus some other stuff. It's another nice place to get out of the crowd for a bit.

Let me know if you have specific questions; I'll check back on the boards! Have a wonderful time!

brewhome - thanks for your wonderful tips! I am really very excited about my upcoming trip. I'm so thankful for the Dis boards! You people keep my family from going crazy. They get a little tired of my disney obsession.

I'm sure when it gets closer there will be a thread started just for it, there normally is. I've been twice and plan on going again this year. Look into the little mini seminars they give in the festival center. Rarely are they sold out so you can normally get tickets just by walking up a few hours in advance. They have wine tasting ones where a rep. from the vineyard/distributor/brand will be there and explain what you are tasting, usually about 3 or 4 pours. They were only $15 last year, $13 to AP holders on week days. They run all day and there will be little boards posted throughout the center telling you when the next one is and what it is. They also have food demos, usually one of the Disney chefs will demo a dish, they pass around a little tasting and you get a tasting of the "house" wine with it. Again $15 and again the boards are posted throughout the center. A list will be posted as soon as they've scheduled them but the problem with it is it will just say Chef so and so and pork or beef or lobster. You have no idea what they are going to cook. They have benches set up around the center and you can sit and watch the demo for free, just not taste. They also have food and wine pairing meals at some of the countries during the course of the festival. I've been to one at Marakesh and one a Spice Road Tables, both were fun and only about $70. They normally have a few specialty seminars as well that run about $100.

I love the Food & Wine Festival!

My sister, my mom and I make it a point to go every year. We started the tradition in 2011. We usually go to Epcot 3 days in a row. Skip every other booth the first day, the second day we hit the booths we missed, and on the third day we go to which ever booth we want to sample food or a drink item we just couldn't eat/drink the first two times around.

Waiting for a booth to open at 11am and being the first in line is always fun. :)

I do recommend going on the week days during the festival.

We have done Saturdays in the evening when we were waiting for Party for the Senses, but the lines are insane. Sundays are busy, but manageable if you happen to go early, it usually doesn't start getting busy until around 2pm, then you can tell where everyone is. . A lot of locals tend to go on Saturday and Sunday.

I had no idea there was a Chase lounge. is it only there for the F&W?

I like to download the booth menus before I go so we can drool over them and strategically plan our attack. (also necessary because I have food allergies)

Thanks for all these great tips! My mom and I will be going mid-October and we have a whole Wednesday for F&W, we aren't even eating breakfast that day so we can have room. We may be able to hit it up again early Saturday that week but we will see.

Hubby & I love F&WF. We go almost every year. We actually bought a second DVC contract so we could have Beach Club as a home resort to book for F&WF!
- I am rather OCD in my planning. I get the Disney Food Blog Guide to F&WF and pour over it. Once the full menus are out, I copy them into Word, make sure they are as in order "Around the World" as possible. Highlight food we want to try with one color for me and a different color for hubby. Highlight drinks I want to try in a third color.
- Up until last wear we always got a wristlet gift card and loaded it up for purchases at the booths. Last year I just used my Magic Band. One less do-dad on my wrist to worry about.
- We try to get to Epcot for gate to do everything we want in Future World before World Showcase opens. We hit World running at 11:00. Sangria is fruit juice and fruit juice is a breakfast drink. Right? :littleangel:
- Get the little trays at the Festival Center. They hold your food items and have a slot to hold your glass. I usually send hubby to nab a table and I go in line. I am able to carry both our food items and my alcohol. (He doesn't drink. We carry Brita water bottles and refill throughout the day to stay hydrated.)
- We also got the fork, knife and spoon sets last year. No more worry about managing to get utensils and managing a full tray.
- Hubby has a small knapsack to hold the Brita bottles, trays and utensil kits.

I a new to the DISBoards. SO I have to remind myself to keep checking back. I am happy to answer questions.

Thanks to everyone for all of the tips!

I am planning my first adult only trip during the F&WF this year as well. So excited!!

For those who haven't been before, don't forget to check out the little seminars they have in the festival center. They run about $15 per, they have a cooking demo with one of the chefs on site and then they pass out samples and a tasting of the "festival" wine, either white or red according to what the food was. There are also wine tastings for the same price, you usually get 3 tastings with a rep from the winery or distributor giving you info. You can book them in advance or just day of.

I'm following this! Also attending a conference (Nov. 2 - 6) that coincides with F&W. YAY!!! The tips here are great, please keep sharing - I've never been to F&W and always wanted to! Anything not to be missed? We have chocolate and wine lovers here...

Looking forward to F&W. So many tasty treats to eat while meandering through picturesque lands = so much fun!
