Hi, I was wondering how parents of 12-13 month olds visiting the world coped with the food options for their child while staying on-site at WDW.

Was the baby happy to eat from your plates and how did you find the food in general for that age range? Any tips you can share would be great.

Many thanks.

DS is a picky eater. We'd always carry baby food or lunchables for him. He also has a peanut allergy so last time at Tusker house, after I mentioned DS likes bacon, the chef brought us a whole plate of bacon from the kitchen. That was pretty much all he ate :)

DD will eat anything. The buffets are easier, but she has a tendency to eat all carbs and protein so I still carry pouches for her.

Most restaurants will cater to you. But I've had instances where requests didn't pan out...like "overcook the pasta so it's soft for a baby".

The youngest I've visited with was when my son was 18 months and we didn't have any issues with the food. All the buffet style restaurants have kid friendly items and there's always food that can be fed to a novice ;) We just picked the softer, easier to chew items like hotdogs, steamed veggies, mac and cheese etc and cut them all up nice and small for him on his own plate. Most of the quick service style food stalls in the parks carry things that can be modified for the littlest customers as well. We bought a lot of hot dogs, fruit cups, french fries and mac and cheese :) Also, we always brought our kid's sippy cups with us as well and would fill the cups with milk or half water/half juice so that our LO's drinks were easy and reliable.

Another option is to bring along any snacks that your LO will def eat and that you are comfortable with. You are allowed to bring in a small soft sided cooler which can be pre-packed with baby's favorite foods. This is especially helpful if your LO is eating baby food from a jar still. I'm pretty sure you can bring baby food jars into the parks, the only exception to the "no glass rule."

Unless your LO has very specific dietary needs I think you will be able to find enough for him/her to eat (although you might have to make sure you read the menus first before selecting a restaurant). Casey's in MK has awesome corn dogs that were a big hit with our littles. Flame Tree BQ in AK has mac and cheese that my kids love as well (this is our favorite lunch spot in AK, mac and cheese for the kids and pulled pork for us :woohoo:).

By that age my kids were eating whatever we were eating, so they would share w/ each other or w/ us. If I only had one kid w/ me and they were that age, they'd just share our food w/ maybe an extra side of veggies or fruit if necessary. Aside from a few snacks for snack time I wouldn't bother taking food for them.

She ate from our plates and we brought things from home we knew she would eat, like pouches, cereal bars. But everywhere we went seemed to have something she would eat. A lot of bananas! :)

My son had his first French fry at wdw when he was 10 months old. :)

My son was still nursing so I didn't really have to worry about him getting enough calories or anything. He at just fine off our plates. He was never a fan if baby food to begin with. We were dairy free at the time too.

We haven't been to Disney World yet with the kids but we've traveled other places and when my daughter was 15 months old we had to eat out every meal for two weeks because of work being done to our house (it was a home owners insurance claim). My kids were always happy either eating off our plates or sometimes us ordering them a side of something for them to eat on their own. Like if we went somewhere that had mac and cheese, fresh fruit or steamed broccoli as a side option we'd order that for our little one to eat in addition to bites from our plates.

Also those pouches with things like yogurt, fruits, veggies, oatmeal and even whole meals are awesome. We're bringing some for our kids to eat for snacks while we're in Disney.

We were at Disney for dd10s first birthday. She ate off of our plates and I would just ask for milk. We were only charged once for the milk - at Coral Reef. We did have one issue though with some noodles from ABC Commissary which she threw up.
